I am interested in any info on HDSP I can get. My son was just sentenced last month, he went to Tracy for 3 weeks and they shipped him to High Desert. Since he has been in cdc he hasn't recieved any mail. Will his mail from Tracy follow him? How long does it talke for them to mainline? Are prisoners allowed quarterly boxes or do they have to be ordered from a vendor? As you can see I am full of questions, if anyone can help it would be sooooo much apprieciated. This is my first prison experience at all and I've got to go thru it with my first born.I'm very confused about whats going on and very afraid for my son. He is a big boy and I'm sure he can handle himself just fine...it's just the mamma in me.
Thanks!!!

My husband was at HD for reception, so some things will be different, but here's what I know. Mail usually doesn't follow, it gets sent back. Quarterly packages through a vender. (I like PackagesRUs.com) It sounds like he's probably got a couple weeks before he mainlines, while they decide where to put him, and make sure he understands the rules and such. They are very strict on dress codes for visiters and the reception center is usually full of people, so be prepared to wait. Don't worry too much, he's probably as confused as you are right now, but you'll both get the hang of it pretty quick. As for his safety, it's no worse than anywhere else, and a damn site better than others!

My son in law was in Chino reception and he was been transferred to HDSP on March. He told us that he got the mails which my daughter sent to me one week before he left to chino and transferred to Susanville. Regarding the vendors packages,he told us he need to get approve and then send us the form so we can order from the vendor and pay . They will send directly to him.

Vendor packages after he mainlines...so don't get carried away too quickly. If he sends you a written list of what he wants and the order numbers, you can order by phone or online, both MUCH faster than sending in the form by mail.
