I thought I would post what happened today in case anyone needed to know this.

I had printed off a lot of pictures to send Joey. They were mostly pictures of the children and other family members that were all here last weekend. They were returned today as rejected mail. I didn't understand so I called the mail room. They returned them because in my pictures you can see a case of beer on the table! I surely wasn't taking a picture of it....but it happened to show up in the photos.

I was disappointed he didn't get the photos....but I will go through and crop that beer right off there, :D and send them again!

Just be careful with what is in your camera view!

thats how it is here in iowa too. I can see how you wouldnt even think about it. You dont look at the background. Geez.

OMG..nothing and i mean nothing surprise me anymore with these people...

I laughed!!! Get real, they are inspecting the background of pictures that come in. They MUST not have anything to do. Exactly what are they looking for? 'I'LL PICK YOU UP ON 5TH AND 10TH AT TEN!!!! Written on the wall.

Give me a break. A case of beer in the background. What is that suppose to mean? It never ceases to amaze me. Just like the time I sent my husband a picture of another country, that just happened to have a tiny map on it. Not that you could really read it even, stamped rejected. Like he could really escape and use it, yea right, whatever.

Not to mention that, ya know, cable television actually SHOWS commercials of folks *gasp!* drinking beer!!!

Kinda like when you send them a clipping of a news paper article and it gets rejected, even though you could get them a subscription to the whole darn thing.

There isn't much logic or reason behind some of this stuff.

I wish theonly reason i got my pictures back is coz there was a case of beer on the table!!!! I couldnt be so lucky...i am sure they got hung on the bulletin board for a while before they were sent back...hubby got the notice of contraband over a week before he signed to have them returned....he told me he will still love me if they end up on the internet though....what a guy!!!!

lol..lol..LeesLady... I don't even drink beer. I never have developed a taste for it. My nephew on the other hand....it was his case of beer. I just never paid attention to it sitting on the table when I took his picture! We have not seen him in 3 years...so I thought Joey would like to see him.

The lady in the mail room told me that they could not have pictures of anything that would interfere with their recovery. I'll be more careful next time! lol...lol...I wouldn't want to hurt someone's recovery by my pictures.

Wow...that is sooo dumb!!! I am sorry that you have to go threw the hassel of cropping them and all...that stinks! I just don't understand...it's not like they don't know beer exists!!! I mean...maybe if someone was drinking a beer in the pic...but come on!!

Pictures are common within a facility. Some are accepted and others are rejected. Pictures as described earlier are rejected because an alcoholic could see those pictures and go into DTs. This the theory, but some do not agree. A picture of a person nude may cause the receiver wishing for escape and securing the person for whatever emotion was thought during the initial view. A sex offender may steal those pictures and address, cause harm to the sender, or escape. Wow! A picture with those qualities can be marketed. Ha! Ha! This is the reason for rejection while it seems sooooooooo dumb. If your pictures are allowed within the hands of an unintended, the state receiving those picture could be held liable for any damages caused.

I personally saw pictures that caused me considering a violation of rules that required stealing them for my personal possession or selling to Hustler magazine. Think about what you send in the mail because all persons that enjoy pictures are not behind fences and bars. 38 Special

Guess I got lucky I sent my son a pic of me and his Dad having dinner at red lobster and we both had a beer sitting right in front of us at the table and he got them.
When he was first sent to prison I would get on the internet and send him little brochures and magazines that was free. He called me and ask that I stop sending him vacation pamplets he said they would look at him funny like going somewhere?
I guess it's whatever mood they are in. Hate they was sent back Kay because it's stupid.
