View Full Version : How is everyone?
missyou2 05-12-2005, 08:52 PM It has been quite in here! How is everyone doing?
Alright on this end. 2-3 months more to go. I'm trying to stay patient with letters. He sends one every day and I get them every 2 weeks or so... But at least I get them!
erinanderson 05-12-2005, 10:35 PM Still working on clemency. 4-6 months my butt. At the rate this is going, it will be the end of the summer and almost a year since the end of the trial before we even get started on it. *sigh* Have taken up residence here in Leavenworth a few weeks ago so I can start going regularly to visit and what not. The areas not too bad, weather stinks and the commute is crappy for work. But it is all worth it to be closer to my hubby...
I wish more wives had the funds to do so. I think the prison would definitely be a happier place...
honey_77 05-12-2005, 10:41 PM Yeah for only 2-3 months to go!!! Time will fly hopefully for you! I hope you enjoy every minute you get with him when he gets out. My end we have decided to hire a cilivian lawyer who does military law. he says he can get this miss fixed so hopefully he can and so good will come this way.
Erin--- I hope everything gets better with clemency. Military does not get in a hurry which is bad for the family. I am glad you get to be closer to him.
skm7776 05-15-2005, 12:19 PM hey everyone! i don't post a lot, but missyou, i appreciate that you're making sure we're checking in.
my story is posted in other threads, but i'll fill y'all in: my inmate (so much more than a boyfriend!) had his last clemency board in feb. he's at the DB too, by the way... so we're still waiting to hear the results of that, but not too hopeful simply because of the slim odds for receiving clemency. he's up for parole in aug 2006 and seems to be counting on that, but we all know it's not only unpredictable, but unlikely. so we're just believing God for His best and His perfect timing.
something unusual, though--when he was confined at camp lejeune before being sent to ft leavenworth, the conditions were poor, so one of the guys confined with him is filing a grievance or something of the sort, because they're supposedly guaranteed a certain type of living condition while incarcerated, and that was not fulfilled (he said it would be along the lines of 105 degrees in the summer and 40-60 in the winter--inside!). so if that guy gets what he wants, steve (my boyfriend) will put in for the same thing, and that would be time off his sentence. i believe that would consequently move up his parole eligibility date, so another thing for which to hope, but not on which to count. *sigh* i told him i'd almost rather not hear that stuff because then i start dreaming about it and wishing hard that it would happen!
steve stopped writing letters because we talk almost every day on the phone but i'm not loaded, so we're going to try to cut down ... and i'm going to start getting letters again! :D
erin, i'm visiting this coming week--thurs-mon, 19-23 may. :) i'm going to pm you.
and anyone can pm me for anything! i love to be an advocate and help out.
may the Lord bless you all richly,
krista
DeNada 05-15-2005, 09:36 PM Hey! Good to see everyone keeping up with the boards! Missyou and Erin (and everybody, for that matter), the military appellate courts (like all appellate systems) move slowly. My son's JAG filed his clemency petition not too long after trial and, although not granted, was decided within a couple of months. My son's appellate brief was filed last December; however, the Army has yet to file their response brief!! Unbelievable that they've been granted so many extensions. By the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (which the military follows with some modifications), a response brief must be filed within 30 days.
We will be visiting my son over Memorial Day weekend (5/27 thru 5/30). If anyone else is going to be there then, let me know! We can all meet for dinner or something! After all, they don't let us stay there 24/7. I would love to "know" who I'm talking to here!

erinanderson 05-24-2005, 11:10 PM Hey DeNada, I am now living here in Leavenworth, but with my work schedule, especially on big shopping holidays, limits me to the days that I can visit with my husband. For instance, this weekend I will see him Saturday morning and Monday morning and that's it. So I hope to see you there either one of those days. I'll be the bedraggled skinny girl with the short curly brown hair who is half asleep on her husbands shoulder :). I hate holiday weekends, they always make me so tired...
Hope your visit goes well!
Erin
DeNada 05-25-2005, 10:10 PM Erin, I would love to meet you while I'm there. Turns out my husband won't be coming with me on this trip and my daughter is taking his place. We'll be there Saturday (both visits), Sunday (both visits) and Monday morning, so hopefully we'll see you there! And, just what is it you do that keeps you so busy shopping???
See you soon!
Lisa
erinanderson 05-25-2005, 10:34 PM Oh I'm not shopping! I wish...:p. No I serve the people who are shopping. I work retail (blah). Only temporary till next year when I have residency here and can apply at the KU grad school. Going back to school to get my masters and PhD in Cognitive Pyschology. Have a safe trip and I will see you Saturday morning. I may show up late, either way I will be the one in front of the woman with 4 kids (if she brings them all). I sometimes give her rides to see her husband since she doesn't have a car. She has a 13 year old, a 7 and 2 year old and one who is 5 months! Busy busy is she!
