View Full Version : Visiting Wasco - What are the Hours?

Hi All,
I've seen a lot of people mention that they visit Wasco frequently and I need help. My mother wants to visit my father there this weekend. She's in the Bay Area and wants to take the train down to see him. He's in reception and, as near as we can figure, the visit is one hour behind glass. Still, she really wants to see him.

What we can't seem to nail down is what the hours are. There are three different voicemails for visiting information and they all say something different. Two say Saturday and Sunday, but with slightly different hours. The third (at the central line for the CDC) says Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday & Sunday. When my mother finally got someone on the phone, he told her he wasn't in that department but that visiting was on Saturday only! Does anyone know the truth? I'm trying to help her with scheduling the train trip and need to figure out how many times she'll be able to visit during the weekend. If it's all three days, she'll want to get there early on Friday and leave late on Sunday. If it's only Saturday, there's no point in hanging out in Wasco for that long.

Also, does anyone have any experience taking the train to Wasco? Is there a hotel/motel nearby? Is it easy to get to the prison from the train station? Would really, really appreciate any help!

Thanks,
Don

My finance' isn't at Wasco but here is the link to their website and it has some info about visiting at the bottom and also a phone #. Don't give up, keep calling, someone there will be able to help you.

For your directions & mileage, go to www.mapquest.com (http://www.mapquest.com) as long as you have physical addresses you will be able to find out how far the train station is from the prison.

For your hotel info, just search on the internet for "hotels in Wasco, CA" that's how I found hotels near my man's place.

Good luck!

Visiting is Saturday and Sunday unless the inmate is gang affiliated, then it is by appointment only. You can begin check in at 8:00 and must be checked in completely by 1:30. Visits are one hour behind glass. You can call the friends outside and they will pick you up at the train station for a ride to the facility, they accept donations. If your Mom will be there early enough to be at the hotel when I drive through Wasco I will happily pick her up and take her. PM me for arrangements if it works out. Ensure the dress code is strictly followed, they are getting a little crazy lately.

God Bless and Good Luck

Thanks. I think she has all of the transportation stuff figured out. She's called the Friends Outside and all that. I just hope nothing is out of order. Dad told her in a letter that she was approved to visit and she went shopping for new clothes just to be sure everything fit the dress code, so it should all go fine. I'm just worried. I'm taking her down myself in a couple of weeks but she wanted to go sooner and I couldn't go with her this weekend. My Mom's not used to doing things like this for herself and she's been somewhat emotionally unstable for several years now, so I'm worried. If they turn her away at the door, I don't know how she's going to take it.
