Hi,
I was going through some pages of posts and I couldnt find much about PVSP, so I decided that I would just ask directly, anyway, any info will be appreciated, I'm specifically wondering about visitation???? Does it get very crowded? Do visits get terminated early because of the crowding? is the prison a fairly good one or is it horrible? Things like that. Thanks in advance

Rebeca :)

Rebeca :)Hello- My husband is at PVSP. It's not horrible at all. It's actually kinda...pleasant!:D Visiting usually isn't that crowded. Saturdays are busier than Sundays. Our visits have never been terminated due to overcrowding. You can make an appointment. The # is 559-935-3780. The line STAYS busy, so keep trying. They let non-appointment's in after 10 a.m. I've been lucky and have had appointments everytime I've gone. But a friend if mine that visits more often says that around 12 she can just walk right in. There's not a line outside. I do know that if you don't have an appointment, some people get there super early (like 4 a.m maybe earlier) and line up outside the prison, they don't let anyone on the grounds until 7:30 a.m.,to start getting passes. They are numbered. After all appointments are called they start calling out pass numbers. You can take $30 per adult, $10 per child. They have coin machines in the processing area to make change. You can't take any paper money inside. You can buy ducats for $2.00 a piece.
Anything else specific you wanted to know, send me a message.:)

Gina said it all... visiting is very nice there compared to other prisons.

Also you don't have to line up in your car like in other places, you just go in and park. If I can't get an appointment, I try to get there at 8:30, get an early number, go out to breakfast and come back by 10 am.

I will say one time i didn't get there to get my number until 10 am and I couldn't get in to see him until 1:30 because count time is at noon.

It is pretty decent compared to most. My husband was there for like 2 years, now he's in Avenal. I will say the walk to whatever building he is in maybe kinda rough. My husband was in the building that was the furthest and I had to walk and carry our son in an infant car seat. Whoa!!! It was surely the longest walk I ever had but other than that one incident, it wasnt so bad.

oooh, yes that would be a long walk carrying a car seat and a baby! I often wonder how disabled and elderly visitors get around there.

Luckyme, have you gone to visit yet?
