Has anyone had a loved one transferred from NKSP to Susanville? Was your visiting approval transferred? We are being told that it does not transfer.

We were approved for visits at NKSP and Matt sent us the CDC Form 887, Notice of Visitor's Approval/Disapproval. He was transfered to CCC Susanville and we are planning a visit later this month. He called yesterday and said that he was told by one of the COs that we should check to insure that our visiting is approved at CCC. I called and was told that just because we were approved at NKSP doesn't mean we are approved at CCC. They also said that we must submit a new CDC Form 106, Visiting Questionaire and be approved.

The CDC handbook states in paragraph 54020.8 Visitor Application Procedure Any visitor approved at one institution/facility, shall be approved to visit the same inmate upon a transfer to another institution/facility provided the visitor’s approval status remains unchanged.

Luckily Matt sent us Form 106s for his sister and granparents so we mailed them along with copies of our Form 887 approval from NKSP. I sure hope this isn't another 60 day wait!

Hey Dave

My man transferred from NKSP to Mule Creek and so did my approval for visiting. When you called CCC who did you speak with? I would ask to speak to the visiting Sargent, they should be able to tell you if it transferred or not!

Let us know!

Hello Dave...

I have had a similar experience as Bec. My son was at San Quentin Reception. My Form 106 was approved to visit San Quentin. When my son was transferred to Old Folsom, once he was out of classification, I could visit him. The visiting seargent at Old Folsom said once approved to visit, it would be good wherever he was transferred to. I would call back to Susanville. Something doesn't sound right.

Good Luck. Charme:)

My son transferred from NKSP to CTF and we had no problems visiting him at CTF. Actually, my husband has been transferred to 3 different prisons since '97 and I have never had to fill out a new visiting form. Not even to do a name change!

My son just called from CCC, I told him about filling out a new visiting form, he didn't know about it.. He said wait till he gets to a fire camp, I think we have to fill out another one then, too.
I'm still going to send in my approval form from NKSP.. He passed all his tests, got accepted to Fire Camp, he is waiting for his gate pass, He should get it this week......... then next is 2 weeks of training, I THINK!!:D
I was still talking when they cut off the phone!

My brother went from High Desert to CCC. My visiting approval was sent with him. In fact, I visited him BEFORE he even told me he had moved. I went to High Desert and they told me he was at CCC and I went there and saw him...2 days after he moved. I'd call again and make sure you talk to someone actually in visiting, not someone answering the phone while they're at lunch! Go to the trailer to get your number, they'll send you over to visiting when it'stime for you to go. Good Luck!!

It turns out that CCC has a visiting line that is manned on Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm (530) 257-2181 Extension 4119. I spoke with the sargent and he could not tell me anything. By policy you must be notified by the inmate of your visiting status. He said to have Matt fill out an inmate request form to find out our status.

I have to think that there isn't a problem. We are going next weekend and if we can't get in, we will have a nice weekend in Reno and visit him another time. At this point that's all we can do.

Your approval for visitation follows with the inmate.

Matt called last night. He received the paperwork saying that we are approved to visit. So apparently it was transferred from NKSP with him.
