At the visits this weekend Bill told me that one of the guys that works in the kitchen told everyone that Deerfield faility in Ionia is gettin rid of breakfast and luch and offerring a brunch instead and that this is to start soon....Apparantly, this is to help with the budget cuts......Has anyone else heard anything else they're doing regarding budget cuts??

I'm going to see Paul today.....I'll ask him about it. I can't imagine it going over.....isn't there some sort of "rule" not just in the MDOC that they have to provide prisoners 3 meals a day???

I know I am not from Michican and have nothing to do in this thread...but...the DOC did this in Virginia already...at the weekend they serve two meals only...and if the men have a visit early in the weekend they can forget about breakfast as well....no body is happy with it but the DOC says that most men don't eat breakfast in the weekend...clinton tells me they do, because it is only from around 9 in the morning that they serve breakfast...so....two meals a day!!! they do it already and that is another reason I have to sent clinton some money soon....when you get a visit you eat eat eat in the visiting room, because in there you are always hungry, but if like Clinton you don't get visit, then you are still always hungry, more so if you don't have money to get food.

mark told me that they serve breakfast at 4am in AL so that most people are still sleeping and they don't need to feed them...

I talked to myhubby today....he said its been done before at other places. Ususally brunch runs from 8am to 1 pm and you can go anytime during those hours, but he couldn't remember if you could go more than once.

I had called Lansing about this and they said that they weren't going to do it because by law they have to feed them 3 meals a day, but this is MDOC they do what they want and them make a law for it.

No I haven't heard anything about this, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. It sounds just like something the MDOC would come up with. And Deb I LOVE your peace symbol!
