I'm Sherry. My friend is at North Facility/B Yard. He's been in Soledad for 2 years 4 months with 6 years 1 1/2 months to go of his sentence. He's in Torro Dorm. Is your son doing alright there? How is he fairing with the lock down?

My finacee is @ CTF on the South Yard. Has been there for 1 year, has 3 to go. I was just there this weekend, and it was the worst feeling in the world to leave him there. You never really know how much you love someone until they are away! I have never hurt like this!

FYI the south yard is off of lockdown. I just got a call.

I do, he just was transferred there from San Quentin, I wonder when do they get phone calls and visits. I could never get a visit at San Quentin, but I am approved.

My son is at Soledad North. Was hoping it wouldn't be a total waste of time, being it's title as a Training facility. Nevertheless, my initial opinion is that it has little to offer, much time on lockdown and the mail is ridiulously slow. Would love to hear I'm wrong from some of you with more insight into the situation. I read today on another website that there is going to be interfacility moves between North and Central.

I have a friend in SVSP and I need to send back the application for approval. Where do I sent it to. Also, I am sooo scared. I cant even sleep. I dont even know if I am ready to see him after so many years. OMG

Any advice. All I know he is in B - what that stands for I dont know. Any info. What types of people are there in that yard.

hi. you fill out the form and send it back to your friend; he gives it to the cop and when you are approved, he will send you back the paper saying you have been approved.
i dont know how they are now, but it took them over 3 months to get me approved over at SVSP. . . they dont seem to move very fast!

Hi and my B/F is also there in the south facility ... He has 98 more days to go ... It seems like a long time but in reality its just around the corner ... Whew will be so glad when this is all over and life can go back to normal (whatever that is ! )

I have finally got my license!
I have not been approved to visit my son since he has been in prison
- 2 years now
I jumped through what I think is every loop and have sent another visit request. I had broken a city ordinence ( my dogs got loose) I forgot about it and I couldnt figure out why I kept being denied :(
Good news I got my license :) ... and I was told there should be no reason to be denied this time. So I am waiting for official approval. My son is in CTF North yard. Are they on lockdown? anyone know for sure?

I really understand what you mean about visits being bittersweet. My guy just can't handle them, so we don't get to see each other. Some guys just need to do their time differently I guess. My heart aches to see him and touch him, but when I leave he just gets so depressed that it isn't worth all the pain it causes. But my Baby is so sweet, he writes me 3 or 4 times a week, calls several times a month, and recently we just figured out how to play Scrabble through the mail.

I know this isn't really about the original post, but I picked up on your 'bittersweet' comment and these thoughts just came rushing to mind.

FranksFrackBoy...thank you...its tough, my husband and i play tic tac toe through the mail, kinda makes it a bit easier, he writes me every day and i get mail almost every other day if not every day...he knows now that life is too precious to mess up...i feel for him and count almost every hour until he is home january 21 2006. thankyou again for the comment that i am not "alone" in this nightmare!

the bittersweet hit me also; mine didnt get any visits the first almost 5 years he was down. when him and i really got serious, i started going to see him. he says now, its hard because he looks so forward to the visits then when i have to leave he does get depressed. so do i. and at times like now, when they have no visiting, its really hard on us. . . at the same time we both agree tht we live for the visits even though they are painful. since mine is doing 25-life, the visits are all we have so its not something we can gibe up, but they are definatly bittersweet to say the least. usually, i am laughing and crying the entire 6 hour drive home. i really feel for you, i cry alot, but i know all situations are different but then again all are the same. we are all in the same boat here and i am glad i have all you here for some kind of support or whatever. i would have never thought any of this would happen, but then again, you just never know. we are taking this as a life learning experience. i feel for all of you, thankyou for your support.

The support on this board is amazing and it really does help to have people who are going through the same things; people who understand and dont critizize.

My son's father is in SVSP...does anyone know anything about the transfers hey're doing right now? I just got a letter from him saying about 270 inmates were being transferred and it either to bakersfield or high desert. Any info would be appreciated!

from what i understood they were transferring B Yard out; but i have heard other rumors also so the best thing to do would be to call and try and talk to his counselor.

i think anywhere is probably better than svsp. hopefully he wil get a program and be able to do something there instead of being lockdown all the time.
that sucks that you are so far away tho! it would be nice if the CDCR would take families into consideration when they choose where to lock people up instead of making everyone drive a day and a half to get to visit their loved ones

KVSP or Delano II as it sometimes referred to, is 1 mile to the west of NKSP on West Cecil Avenue in Delano. It was opened just a few months ago and is the newest of the 34 state prisons. They are currently in the process of staffing and have a mandate from the Warden to be fully operational by the end of November.

You have two options...
1.) Call the CDC inmate locator at 1-916-445-6713 (it might be busy or you will be on hold for about 20-30min) with his full name and date of birth they will give you his CDC# and a mailing address for where he is being housed.
2.) You can call the CTF at 831-678-3951 ask for inmate records and with his name and date of birth you should be able to also get a mailing address.


Just wanted to make sure you know that there are two prisons located in Soledad CA. SVSP (Salinas Valley State Prison) and CTF (Correctional Training Facility) Soledad.

Megan, Thanks for decoding and "breaking it all down" for us. Unfortunately, the address I have for my man doesn't have all that extra "stuff". WHen I called to get his address, they just told me CTF and PO Box #689. Does that mean he's in Central?

My Baby is in the South, sorry I can't help you. My son was there a couple of years ago, but I don't remember where. Go ahead and write him, and ask him. Especially if you're planning on visiting him. That way you can make sure he's not locked down before the drive. All they tell you is what is going on per yard, unless you get lucky and get a live person on the phone..Have a good one..

Has he wrote to you? If so it should have his housing information on the sender spot. You can write with no housing it just might take and extra day or so. Oh yes it sounds like he is at Central.

Hi my husban is CTF shasta North and I have not gotten a visit or call from him. The mail is very slow. I bought books for him and they confirmed delivery on April 7 and he still has not received anything..CTF sucks!

No don’t be mad! Books get to the prison in a decent time frame but they take a while to be distributed just like the mail. My boyfriend left CTF, but my friend who’s man is still there said mail is taking a little less then two weeks to get to the guys. I am not sure why he is not writing? Are you putting the correct address on the envelope? The reason he hasn’t called is because he is on lockdown. The phones are on the yard so once he is off he will probably call you. Actually every one on B-yard is locked down right now….Northerners and Others have visits but they are lockdown during the week. Also you can always call the prison-inmate records and ask for his mailing address that will tell you if he has moved or been transferred.

He is very right! Always call the 1-800 number on Friday night to make sure you are able to visit. The worst scenario I have seen is everything is fine but right when you get to the metal detector going into the visiting room something happens on the yard and visits are terminated for a certain group/race…This happened a couple weeks ago with the Northerners on A yard. I felt so bad for the families and friends that had to leave after waiting so long and getting so close to the visiting room.

And if you're going on a Sunday, call again Saturday night or Sunday morning to make sure all is the same. I once called on Friday and visiting was on, then something happened Saturday and it was cancelled for Sunday. I drove all the way down there only to have to turn around and go home. So definitely always always call the 800# before you leave the house.

Thanks ladies for the info. I've been calling every friday and still no visits. I wish I can at least have a phone call. I can't imagine what it must be like to be locked up in a tiny closet for months. That's why ladies we need to support and show them our love when we get a chance.
