My friend asked me to send him some paper ane envelopes. Well, I couldnt get all of it in the normal little white ones so I put it in a big yellow one. Will he get in trouble for that? Is it ok for them to get mail in those envelopes? I know they arent able to get packages except on special occasions, is that considered a package? Thank you for any information you can give me.

I don't know about sending the paper and envelopes. I didn't think you could send that in the mail. I thought you could only send stamps and money orders. Maybe, some prisons are different....but I don't think so. At Ventress where my son is...I have sent him letters and cards and legal paperwork in the large manila envelopes and they were fine. Now he tells me that it has to be smaller than 8 by 10. I don't believe he will get in a lot of trouble, they will probaby send it back to you, if it is not acceptable.

I'm in California but when I send my man paper and envelopes I send it in a larger "manilla" type envelope, without metal clasps though.

I've sent envelopes before and I'm not sure but I think I could send no more than 10 in a large envelope at one time. Good Luck!
