I was married for three years to a very abusive husband. He beat, choked, cut, took my baby (newborn at time) to his Mom as a way to make me stay. I fought long and hard for my freedom, heck the man even tried to shootme. Trust me they don't change the only change that will come is when you leave or die. It is very hard but it can be done. And there is a better life out there. I wrote this poem when I was ready to date again (it took over a year):
The darkness is slowly ebbing.
Rays of light and hope are showing
The world is taking a different shape
Ahhhh who knew it was this way
No fighting or name calling
No black eyes or bruises
Words whispered softly in my ears
Carressed softly instead of shoving
being held instead of choked down.
To have support and sympathy
Who knew why was I not told of this before?
That to love someone isn't an act of agony
but a beatiful and joyous act. It is pure and innocent.
A little slice of heaven on earth.
The darkness is slowly ebbing.
Rays of light and hope are showing
The world is taking a different shape
Ahhhh who knew it was this way
No fighting or name calling
No black eyes or bruises
Words whispered softly in my ears
Carressed softly instead of shoving
being held instead of choked down.
To have support and sympathy
Who knew why was I not told of this before?
That to love someone isn't an act of agony
but a beatiful and joyous act. It is pure and innocent.
A little slice of heaven on earth.
