Hello everyone,

I will be traveling from Las Vegas to Buffalo to visit with my husband who is at Collins CF. I plan to stay for 2 weeks some time in August. The hotel expense would be exhorbitant! Does any one know of another accomadations that is not as costly? Your help is greatly appreciated!

If you are going to stay near the prison, is much cheaper than NYC...

Since Collins is a medium & your love one can only have weekend visits, you could always try Hope Hospitality House (http://www.hopeofbuffalo.org/hospitality_house.htm) (I've heard great things about them), which is located in Buffalo... I also think they will provide you with transportation if you don't feel like doing a rental.

I know of people who stay at Microtel Inn & Suites (http://www.microtelinn.com/reservations/locationdetail.asp?facid=2233) when they do weekend visits; Inn is about 1/2 hour away from the facility & I think if you book online, they're $40 per night.

about 15 miles or less from Collins is a Lake Erie Beach called Sunset Bay. There are cottages for rent there that go for 350-450 per week. But they are whole houses with coooking a couple bedrooms etc. I stay with friends there most of the summer and would be happy to try and get you some phone numbers. There is a restaurant and a deli right in the bay ( a walkable area) and it is a great beach. Just a thought.
