April 14
My little pink flowers are back. When they mowed them down there were only two, now there are 5. I looked out the window this morning for the first time in a few days and when I saw them it made me think about how these people try and mow us down. Yet we keep popping right back up. Determination and will power. Survival!

As I said I wrote to find out how to press assault charges on Beard. I wrote to Internal Affairs/Inspector Generals Office and they haven?t replied. The reason I bring it up is because he is working the pod today. They (the rank) know there is a possible explosive situation there, yet they still put him over here. When they took me out for shower I so badly wanted to do something, anything, but I didn?t. I will use the proper channels just so no one can say I didn?t try.

April 15
Well the weather is starting to heat up. Our cells here on F section are already becoming like saunas, no ventilation to speak of and as the sun starts setting it heats up our walls. Several of us have written to Major Lester and filed grievances. By the time the grievance is seat back we should be will done (smile), our brains cooked inside our heads. Tempers are already flaring up irritable and grumpy. GRRR

April 16
Well Sgt. Duff got Hank this morning at breakfast. Hanks food slot leans forward at an angle so the tray cannot just be placed on it or it will fall. When the officers give him his tray, they know to hold or to it until he has a hold of it. Well when they came to pick up trays they opened his food slot and he held the try so they could grab it. Sgt. ?Got Pink? Duff being scared of his own shadow told Hank to set it down and step back. Well Hank tried to tell him it would fall so Duff told him to step back. This is considered an order. So Hank lets the tray go and steps back. Of course the laws of gravity take over and the tray falls to the floor. Sgt. Duff jumps back, smiles and says that?s an assault case.

We are no long on lockdown. Duff has no need to be here in the first place but being the busy body, miss house maker he is, he just has to run things, just has to be involved to show his power as a sgt. when all he had to do is let the officers to their job. I think he knew exactly what was going to happen. It?s a damn shame because its so petty. It was auditable ? normally it takes 3 to 5 days to process a disciplinary case and the substitute counsel to come ask you about witnesses and such. They came to see him less than six hours later. They want him really bad. Huh? (frown)

April 18
I just heard Sgt. Duff got Elkie Taylor the same way about the falling tray. Elkie just made his Level II a week or so ago. So did Kenny Parr and yesterday Victor Saldano made his Level II. But we have also been told that the Sgts. and Lts. have told the officers to write anyone up for all minor violations, pictures on walls, shaving, paper in window or light, minor petty ass stuff meant to fill up Level II and III since its emptying out. Dirty rotten lowdown scoundrels its all they are.

9:30 pm ? Had a bit of trouble today. Soulja jacked the food slot because he received 2 checks in the mail and the mail room wouldn?t let him endorse them and send them back out, which is very petty. Sgt. Poole came talked to him and told him he would check on it. Well Soulja gave up the food slot and Poole went to check. A bit later he sent a message, he checked but policy bla bla bla. So the situation is no resolved.

About ½ hour later they put T in the shower. He ends up staying in there about 35 minutes. He yell for the officers and yells for the officers ? Finally when they came to get him, cuff him, lead him back to his cell, close the door, take on cuff off, T jacks. He got the cuffs, the key and the strap. Officer Pinkard immediately grabs his personal protection 10 % OC pepper spray, yells he has an assaultive weapon, shakes the can and starts to spray when I yell out ?You can?t spray him. He is secure in his cell. You?re not in danger.? I think his temper got him because as soon as I yelled he realized he was about to make a serious mistake. 10 % OC is for their personal protection IF their safety is threatened. His wasn?t.

Anyway, Sgt. Griffin comes, T tells him what?s up, but still refuses to give the cuffs and key back. So Sgt. calls Lt. Price. Price comes. T tells him what was up, feels he made his point and returned the stuff.

Why did this happen? Lazy ass officers leaving him in the shower 35 minutes. (frown)

They served Hank another case today, refusing to groom. He is at war with them over the unsanitary way they have the razors which could very well transmit HIV and Hepatitis, but really they don?t bother with writing him up until its time for him to make level. Just another dirty petty tactic to keep him down.

April 19
Check this crap out. Early this morning about 7.00 am Officer Blancet came to get Soulja for medical. 3 days ago Soulja complained of chest pains and the nurse told him to put in a sick call. So now 3 days later (he could have died a hundred times in 72 hours) they come to get him. So he turns on his light. Officer Blancet sees him and says I can?t take you to the clinic like that. Soulja has not cut his hair in a long time so its froed out most times. Today however he has it platted up (braids).

So they refuse his medical appointment which is illegal and against policy. So he don?t say nothing. About a ½ hour later they come to get him for shower and he comes out, walks down by the shower and sits down. Sgt. Poole comes, talks and leaves. Lt. Price comes and is able to semi resolve the problem, says he will get a nurse down here and that the called the regional office to check and see about denying medical for refusing to groom. How stupid is this? There is no reason behind this incident other than Soulja being black with long hair and Officer Blancet having some type of personal problem with Soulja, Blancet is white and bald. We have locked back over several months and realized Blancet has never messed with anyone but Soulja. We cannot figure out why.

The incident was not completely resolved but it was handled ok. The reply from the regional office is we cannot be denied medical simply because we have long hair, beards etc. But they know that crap.

They killed another last night. The last 3 they have killed I?ve known well. I was not close to them but it still affects me. William Burns was one of the first people I met here on Death Row. We shared many cups of coffee, drawing ideas and techniques. Kojack, Jose Santellan, and I were neighbors for awhile and I used to play handball all the time with Gerald Casey. So many have been murdered. It steals a part of me every time. Brains date is 18 days away. (frown)

April 21
Sunday afternoon for some unknown reason they have came trough and cut everyone?s water off including drinking water, so we are thinking its going to be a shakedown. But we?re not sure yet. Usually on shakedown they leave the drinking water alone.

Mrs. Howell, the property officer, came and passed out some of our fans. Only 2 people got theirs back on this section. But we don?t have any electrical outlets so they don?t do a lot of good. Yes shakedown time. Gotta clean house. More later.

6:45 pm ? Well they came in. They were pretty much looking for commissary. They got a bit of coffee out of here, that?s it. But they said they got quite a bit of commissary on Level II cells but there cells are more open. Where they have a whole at the bottom ours is welded up, oh well. It?s not a big deal. They don?t want us having food. ?Oh now we don?t want them to get full.? What a joke.

Brian?s execution is 16 days away and he is still Level II. It?s a damn shame, he can only see his boys and family 2 more days before they kill him. Rotten bastards.

8:30 pm ? They just brought some disciplinary cases to all of us. They found commissary on IE, coffee, food etc. Oh well, petty ass shit. They wouldn?t have wrote me up last month when we were going off. Petty, petty, petty.

When they pulled Hank out he was talking shit to them. Sgt. Griggs told him to shut up before he met the concrete. Of course Hank continued. Griggs flung him around to the wall and pushed him towards the wall. DW started talking shit then so they tried to put him into the shower. He promptly sat down on his ass. Somehow or another he ended up getting slammed into the shower door. When they pushed Hank into the wall DW had started talking about how messed up it was so that brought on his incident. They were eventally put back in their cells.

April 22
They also wrote Hank up yesterday. Again. It really pisses me off that they see we are chilling so they come at us with all the petty stuff now. Shave, pictures on the wall, commissary. If we were to jack the dayroom every day or the run, or the cuffs, they wouldn?t screw with us, but when we?re doing nothing they do. How much sense does this make? Hank was 2 weeks away from Level II. They hit him with 3 major cases in a week. Pitiful and petty.

I wrote Warden Massey last night about having no electrical outlets. Today the officers came around to check on all the cells so I?m thinking they?ll be in to replace all of them in a week or so. We shall see. Howell hasn?t passed out any more fans over here.

April 23
Well the substitute counsel brought me my possession of contraband case (1/2 bag of coffee). I would have gotten the same case for a 14 inch metal rod. How much sense does that make? They do not care how petty a case is, Napoleonic complex Major Lester is there to keep his foot on our neck. No matter how small the case is. This case should have been a minor case, yet he graded it major anyway. I should technically win it because the officer who wrote the case was not the one who shook me down. So he should not have written the case since he had no personal first hand knowledge of it. So we shall see how it plays out.

Haven?t been getting much feedback from this column anymore. I do hope everybody isn?t losing interest. I know it?s not as fast paces when there are run ins every day but the issues remain.

The food has improved a bit. The portions still are not adequate but they are better than what they were. The air in the cells is better but still not up to par. They came around and chalked up the windows where they leaked.

But still no ice way on TV, group activities, level system/case abuse.

One thing we have notices, the harassment shakedowns have pretty much stopped. Smile.

Okay everyone, I hope I still have an audience out there. That?s it for this time.

In struggle and solidarity

We are still listening to you Paul,
I have a friend in Oklahoma DOC serving 3/ 15 years cont. He has been there 22 of his 41 years of life on this earth.
He is filing civil suits on the CO's and the prison system.
They are retaliating hard on him. Getting other inmates to set him up with drugs etc which he refuses. His clean U/A's prove it but they still the find minor violations which you know is easy to do to keep him at Level 1. They seize every penny he earns or anyone sends in to him.

His Civil cases has been apealed to 10 th circuit so he is about to kick ass.

I don't know how much longer or when but when people do other people wrong it always proves out one way or another. It's just the laws of Karma.
