Hi there!
I am new to PTO and have spent the entire evening browsing the site, I live in the UK and my b/f is incarcerated in NY, We started out pen-pals but over the last few months we have become very close and plan to be together when he is released, currently our BIG problem is the the phone system there, a friend posted earlier on the general boards on my behalf, what we have heard to date is not encouraging :(
I know they have MCI systems there and he has told me he can call me once a month collect from the chaplins office, anyone out there can enlighten me more so we can hopefully get to talk!?
Regards

Hi Aislinn. I am a British subject living in Canada. I also have a loved one in a NY State facility. All your boyfriend needs to do is register your phone number with his counsellor. Once that has been approved, he will be able to call you, collect, whenever you and he wants. (I'm assuming he is in a State facility and not a Federal facility.) Mind you, these collect calls are VERY expensive. The calls will be billed through your regular phone company, but they will be invoiced about a month behind the regular billing you receive. If you are able to pay your phone bills on time, you shouldn't have any problem. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

All the best,
Gilly

Hey, how does that work? I got rid of my home phone for a while, but can my honey go to the chaplain's office and call me? Lemme find out. Please advise.
