I have also posted a similar subject in another area, but can someone help me? My attorney says there is a very good chance that my sentence will be 3 years federal. I live in Kansas but this case is in the western district of missouri. white collar stuff, non violent. any ideas where they might send me? the attorney says that options are limited for women. any ideas /help would be appreciated.:fb:

MrsG,
If you live in Kansas, I believe the closest female prison camp (assuming that you will be going there - sounds likely) is either Pekin (Illinois) or Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas.
There may be something newer than these but I don't show them in the book I have. I know Carswell is pretty nice as far as camps go. You don't want to go to the Camp in Bryan, Texas.. They have fences there now.. Carswell is wide open right on the side of Lake Worth.
You can expect to do about 2 1/2 if you get 3 years, depending on how they are handling 1/2 way house. You may also be elligable for boot camp or the drug program. Boot camp knocks off a year from your sentence I believe, and the drug program about a year and a half. You have to have a drug history for the drug program.
Hope this helps,
David

You can do a search on Bryan Prison Camp or other institutions, and if they have been talked about on PTO, they will show up.

Here is the link to the thread I created that includes pictures of FPC Bryan. It isn't far away at all from me so I drove by and took some pictures. :)

I hear it is nice inside but they are behind a fence where other camps are not. The fence was added to keep people on the outside out, rather than the inmates inside.
Camps such as the one at Carswell are much more open and there are jobs available on the Air Force Base, etc. I doubt there are any jobs outside the fence in Bryan. Even the boot camp is behind the fence.

I have been in both FPC Lexington and FMC Carswell. You will find that each level of federal prison has it's own set of advantages and problems. Each facility has advantages and disadvantages. I did a 38-month sentence in federal prison and would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Where you are sent in the female system depends on where you live and a number of other factors. I have listings of all female facilities and served time with women who had been to all of them. Karen

I will be going to Carswell in about 3 weeks. Ladyconvict, do you think that you could email me and share some information with me? I would really appreciate anything that you are willing to share.
Thank you so much.

By the way, alcoholism is another way to get into the drug program. It does not have to be drugs.

I am a new user of this site. I spent 8.5 years in womens federal prisons. Took the tour and would be glad to answer any questions about FCI Lexington, FCI Pleasonton, FCI Marianna, FPC Bryan or FPC Carswell or FPC Alderson.

As you can see, I have had quite the experience and have a good overview of most of the federal facilities for women.

Anyway, I have been home since 1997 so things may have changed some, but doubt it.

Hi starnesta,

Could you give me some insight on FCI Marianna. My mother self surrendered on 01/12/04. She has not spoken with her case worker yet but I was wondering about your thoughts of Marianna.

Thanks

When I left Bryan a year ago, they did offer employment outside the fence at the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center. Some ladies did clerical work while others actually worked with mentally challeged people. All the ladies that I knew who worked there loved it. You did have to be community custody status to work there though.

I Am Scheduled To Self Surrender March 15th And I Was Just A Little Curious To See If Anyone Knows Much About Good Time And How It Works. I Am Going To Fpc Bryan Texas, I Was Sentenced 6 Months. I Know In Fed Prison You Get 54 Days Off A Year For Good Time, But Is It The Same For Camp? What Are You Allowed To Bring If Anything?
