My guy just transferred from Tucker Unit to BWR. Does the guard that got on to you have blond hair and a little on the big side? If it's the same one we used to call her Helga. :) You know, picture her with a vikings hat on, horns and all. :p I quit going down the weekends she worked. She would give us a hard time no matter how good we were. On time at the end of the visit, she yelled out that this was not a make-out session like some thought, and then pointed out 3 couples. Yeah...we were one of the couples! Truly, we were just talking. We were sitting close and I had my head on his shoulder. That was humilitating. I'm feeling ya! When the lady got on to us I thought "she probably has a man she gets to go home to." Then i get resentful toward her, then i think it's her job and i get resentful toward my husband. Look at the visitation rules, it says they allow "a brief hug or kiss" upon entering or leaving. See if it says anything about holding hands. (Just a thought)

So...you know Helga? How bout Rubber Glove Man? :eek: Ugh!!! He is disgusting. He's been gone for a little bit, he broke his leg.:rolleyes: How long have you been going to Tucker? A few months ago after visitation they had a horrible shakedown and both of them were working. Did your guy tell you about it?
And you're right. One couple will make out all day and no one says a word. Then some get yelled at from across the room for sitting too close??

Are you talking about the shakedown where they made them all strip and stand in the gym for a long time waiting to be searched, right? Since then, we start saying goodbye about 3:15 and i'm gone by 3:30. (So my husband isn't still in the gym when all the visitors are gone and all the inmates are made to strip and stand naked in the room.)

That's the one I'm talking about. Wasn't that horrible??? Dano's not there anymore but we did the same thing. I would just leave early so he didn't have to be there. Helga stayed in the gym for the whole thing. I quit going on the weekends they would be there. No reason for Dano to suffer more than necessary.

OMG! Thats awful! My hubby has only been there a month or so and he hasnt said anything about a shake down like that! Maybe it hasnt happend while hes been there! Yeah, the guards @ Tucker can be pains! My 1st visit there a big black guard yelled at me & my hubby because we were sitting across from each other and leaned close to each other talking! And I HATE the way they yell @ the end of visitation! I mean, turn the lights out or something, yelling just seems soo rude! I guess I could leave before 4:00 but.. I really dont even want to leave at 4:00, much less any time before that! And.. whats the deal with no doors on the bathroom stalls? I havent used the bathroom in there and dont plan to but my 6 yr old son has! I just dont understand why there are no stalls! At least they get to walk to the vending machines with you, at the 2 other places my hubby has been (Brickeys and Calico Rock), they couldnt even do that and I hated that because I had to leave him to go get him something to eat or drink! So thats one good point! (The only one I have fouund so far)! But, thats my complaints! I guess I can handle it, it could be worse! :)

As far as I know it was just a one time thing. But I always left a little early after that. I didn't want to take a chance that it would happen again. It was really bad. They took 10 guys at a time, made them stand in the middle of the gym floor, strip down with their clothes out in front of them and go thru the routine. Open mouth, lift feet, wiggle toes, hold out arms, wiggle fingers, turn around bend over "lift and cough". All the other guys had to line up against the wall and watch. They wouldn't any of the 10 guys get dressed until all 10 were done. Then ten more would have to go thru it. They all had to stay until everyone was done. One of the female guards "Helga" stayed and watched. It was all taped and some of the guys filed greviences. But when they pulled the tape to watch it, it had been erased. :angry:

DITTO! It was one of my first visits there, it seems... But he's been there since October, so i'm not sure. It was more than a couple months ago. I didn't hear about the tape and the grievances. Terrible. We kind of just assumed it could always happen that way so i leave early - it's not worth the risk.

The bathrooms - I can't believe it, but i'm actually used to it. I never thought i would be and some of the women made fun of me for being shocked about it. I guess they were just "matter of fact" but they were like, "if you're gonna be here, you better get used to it." I learned a trick though.. go to the far stall and set your "purse" (your ziploc baggie) and keys on the baby changer thing. Then if you hear someone come in the door, hold the toilet paper out in front of you as far as you can. They'll see your stuff and the toilet paper before they see you. (I saw another lady do it, so i do it now too.)

Michelle, the men's room is worse! I had my sons go in there just to see how bad it is, they said there's a toilet and a urinal, no partition, stall, partial wall, anything. the bathroom by where you wait in line in your car (by the worship trailer) has doors on the stalls.

Danoslady - how do u know which guards work which weekends? helga seems to be friendly w/a lot of the inmates so i assumed she was ok. Plus she's never got on to us, of course we're timid as mice while we're there. :rolleyes:

Helga works 1st and 3rd weekends. They sometimes switch around during vacation times, etc. I think the inmates can find out, Dano always knew. Helga is not always bad. I've seen days when she's friendly and treats everyone fairly. But Helga got on to us once (our fault) and after that she just seemed to pick on us. There are others she does that way. She threatened me with losing my visitation rights completely once. For us it just wasn't worth it. And the rubber glove man is usually on the same shift as Helga and his shakedowns are bad.

Dano was there a year and that was the only time that he knew of they had a shake-down like that.
