I just called CMC (East Facility) and was told by a CO that all yards are on lockdown. She didn't say why or how long it will last.

Does anyone know why they are on lockdown???????

I live in Tx so the lockdown rules might be different, but my husband's unit is on lockdown because they search the place down. Don't know how long it could be. It's been over two weeks for mine.

I just got off the phone with Lt. Shelly Thompson whi is the assistant to the warden. She said that all yards are on Modified Program.. Which means that unless he has a job, he will be locked up in his cell.

I asked her if it would affect visiting this weekend and she said no. However, she said that the visiting process may be a lot slower due to the fact that the men need to be escorted out and searched.

Just an FYI...they've all been on lockdown since around 4pm on Tuesday (04-19-05).

If you plan on visiting this weekend I suggestion you call the visiting hotline number before leaving your house. The number is 800-374-8474 then press 131.

OKay everyone, just got word from a friend who knows someone that works inside CMC. The men are on lockdown because a search was conducted and over 40 "shanks" (homemade weapons, knives, etc...) were found. That's all the information she gave me, so I'm sorry that I don't have more details.

I am going there tomorrow to pick up my hubby. Hopefully they won't mess with that! The doctor hinted to me of problems and a lockdown when he called this past Thursday evening.

Maybe I'm glad he's been in the hospital for the past two months - he was teaching welding prior to that...I hope things were not getting smuggled out or crafted in the shop while he was working! I know he has no patience for that kind of BS. He says it the "youngsters" that are in to that kind of game.

WOW....lucky you! Congrats...and you need to give us all the details of how it was when you first see him walk through those gates as a free man. I'm sooo happy for the both of you!
