ok my son took a plea agreement on june 27th 2004 in Pikeville ,Kentucky for armed robbery/murder ..the plea agreement states life wothout parole for 25 years (his lawyer said this was best to avoid the death penalty) on the plea agreement the Prosecuter said he would have my son transferred to a Michigan Prison (our home ) in exchange for him accepting the plea ..we have now found out that he cant offer this kind of "deal" he has filed an appeal they just sent him a letter saying in 5 months he will recieve his court date .but i have so many questions about this whole thing my son was preesured into this agreement by his lawyer (who i might add is family friends with the brother of one of the co-defendents) oh yeah and her 2 sons (now grown) have also had dealing with this lowlife (he is known to use young boys to do his bidding by plying them with drugs and threats to kill family members ,anyway i am babbling isnt this an issue he should talk with a lawyer about there are so many things wrong with my sons whole trial /plea i cant begin to list them .....like the bailiff was related to the victom and on and on please someone help me with finding a good lawyer who would help him .we will do all we can but are in Michigan and cant travel back and forth due to medical disabilities and money so maybe some pro- bono help or free (good) legal assitance thanks so much for any help..........i am so happy i stumbled on this site

I'm so sorry you're going thru this.... It sounds like he needs a GOOD appeals attorney IF this goes thru or IF he can he needs to request a different attorney now before the sentencing.... Good luck with all of this! ((hugs))

Someone else may have an idea of how to find out the name of a good attorney licensed to practice in Kentucky but I have no idea how to find one that meets those qualifications... Hopefully someone else will know...
