My attorney says he is very confident that I will be receiving a sentence of 3 years. I understand there a limited choices on where women may be placed, any ideas of locations, security level, etc.
the only other thing i have is a minor offense over 10 years ago with no jail time

Well I've just been sentenced (366 days) and hopefully I can pass along some info.

1st things 1st. As you probably know the federal sentences are calculated by a table(hence your lawyers already knows your sentence). The best way to lower your sentence is to cooperate with the prosecutors if that is an option. (5k.1 letters are golden)

They are going to do a presentence investigation (PSI/PSR) on you. It would be good if you had a drug problem cause you can get a 1 year reduction of your sentence if you complete the RDAP program.

Before sentencing you need to choose a prison and in your case it should be a female minimum security camp, criteria I used for my decision was this: either standalone prison camp or adjacent low security prison (dont want hardass hacks), RDAP program, location of facility, southern climate is supposedly better in the winter (they dont alywas heat these things the best), close to family if that is wanted.


A quick glance of http://www.bop.gov/facilnot.html tells me that these are your choices.

Not my choice to make but I'm leaning towards FPC Bryan in TX as it is close to KS and I've read that it has RDAP.

Ok the good news: you will get a 15% reduction for good behavior (you gotta be real bad to lose it I've heard) 3*54=162 days that well geez you wont have to serve... that 3 year just became more like 2 1/2. Look into the RDAP, if you have a drug problem (hate to say it but GREAT!) hmm if you dont maybe talk to your lawyer about developing one...lol I asked mine if I could fail a piss test but he said that would not be a good idea, as I already had proof.

I forgot to mention mrsg... and from your posts this may be news to you... at sentencing you can have the judge recommend a prison so go into the courtroom with a prison in mind also request a self surrender to the prison. Yes it means that you will have to provide your own transportation to the facility but I hear IT IS THE BEST WAY TO GO.

Supposedly the FBOP honors 80% of judicial recomendations, there logic is to place the inmate within 500 miles of the release point. In reality I hear they stick ya where they got the bed.

TxRenee, unfortunately in my case the judge would not entertain any prison requests because my case was high profile and WITSEC... lol I spent 2-3 damn weeks narrowing down my prison camp and for me the judge said that he would not honor any requests... BTW I was leaning towards YANKTON FPC SD. I'm hoping I get my letter three weeks after sentencing (march 20th), or at least b4 may 1st ;).

WITSEC is a security rating that the bop assigns incoming prisoners. Witness Security.
