My husband was probably transferred yesterday from MSDF to Dodge. (I wouldn't know because he can't call and I can't see him) How long does it take for family to be able to see and hear from the inmates? I'm scared, because all I want to know is if he is okay. How do you people do this? I'm so worried about him I can't sleep at night. Please help me out!

Welcome to the club. We all have different experiences and it's not the easiest journey.
As far as Dodge- He'll have to request to add you to his visiting list, then you'll get the application and return it right away. Then it's subject to approval. They can only have a limited # of visitors at first and it's immediate family only, so being his wife is in your favor. A girlfriend would have to wait even longer.
When my cousin was there last year, the phone calls were limited too. Just relax and hold tight. He'll try to make contact with you when he can.
Call Dodge today and tomorrow to see if he's there or not and if yes, find out his DOC number if you can. Or check online at www.vinelink.com (http://www.vinelink.com) then select WI, then the WI DOC option. You can check the system to see when he was updated and that will give you his DOC #. Then if you can, perhaps send him some money. This is how he'll be able to get stamps and envelopes so he can write to you regularly.
Any other questions.... we're here to help. It's been awhile since I had to deal with Dodge, so I don't remember much more information. I know they are in some sort of processing mode for a few weeks before he's assigned to a regular facility and has more time for phone or visits.

What if I have already been approved on his visiting list in MSDF? Doesn't that get transferred? I just miss him terribly and would like to have some idea of when I will be able to touch him for the first time in 4 months!! HELP!! Thanks guys for an ear to listen!!

I'm not sure if the visiting list transfers. I thought MSDF was run by Milwaukee County/sheriff as opposed to the Dept of Correction. If someone here doesn't have that answer, you could call either MSDF or Dodge to verify.
If MSDF is part of the county jail system though, I don't think it transfers. Then again, I don't recall the county having a visiting list.

I just called MSDF for you and they did say the visiting list doesn't transfer with the inmate. Dodge will start a new one. Good news though, is that the one in Dodge moves with them from facility to facility within WI DOC system.
