I just got off the phone and have the latest update on the hearing results. The parole board stipulated anger management classes and i was told these last 6 weeks. Plus, I was told that he will be there another 90 days due to something the board stipulated about some 'pre-release', whatever that is. So now it's another waiting game. I don't know if I can handle this for 9 more days, much less 90. That's the latest for now.

Peaches, how long has your husband been in prison that he would get stipluated with pre-release?

He's been in since January. What does pre-release mean?

Has he been in before? Its crazy that the board stipulated him with that and hes only been there for 3 months. Pre-release (my understanding of it anyway) is for people like my husband that have been in for a long time. Its to help you get readjusted to free life. They teach you things like how to get a job, pay bill and balance a check book. Im sure my husband will get stipulated since yours did. Its also my understanding that it is only offered at Wrightsville ( I may be wrong but that is what my husband has been told). You can actually call Wrightsville and talk to someone about pre-release. I have called before and they were really nice to me

Chris, he has NEVER been in prison before, ever! I have no idea why they've stipulated all of this. He called earlier and seems hopeful about possibly still being released within the next couple weeks but i'm not getting my hopes up. I called North Central this afternoon and was told that he has the 'pre release' and that he will be there another 90 days. He told me he received his board results and they stipulated the anger management and also possible vo-tech. I cannot figure out all this CR*P. I will just be happy for all this to be over with.

So he has to do 6 weeks of anger management and then 90 days of "pre-release"? You said they stipulated "possible" vo-tech? I'd be like "does he have to take vo-tech or not!?"

I'm not exactly sure. He told me on the phone last night something about vo-tech but when I spoke with someone, that wasn't mentioned. I assumed that the anger management classes were at each unit. Are they not? He is at North Central. I have no idea how long it will take for him to actually get into one though.
From what he told me last night, he seems to think that showing proof that he has already completed anger management that he may get released within the next couple weeks. He sounded hopeful. Unfortunately, I am not that hopeful. I've learned how the prison system works and nothing goes the way we expect, or want, it to.
I will be calling today to get more detailed answers to my questions. The one man I spoke to yesterday (no clue as to a name) at North Central was NOT helpful! Imagine that, huh?
Will let you know what I find out as I find out.

Julie, you mentioned in the other thread that you wondered if the anger management classes are at Tucker. If they don't have anger management classes at North Central, then he will have to be transferred to Tucker? Am I getting that right?

Depending on the unit, Anger Management can be a workbook for you to complete in one day or be a weekly class that takes 6 weeks to complete. The pre-release was given to him instead of Vo-Tech. It is to teach him what they feel he needs to know to be a good citizen. I know it sucks being in there, but he should be glad he only go pre-release becase Vo-Tech is a year long and you have to wait to get in it. Pre-Release is only at Wrightsville, so atleast you won't have to drive far. Peaches, you and I talked and I told you that he would more than likely get Vo-Tech, so you should be proud that he only got Pre-release, which in the long run, may help him to be a better person and learn some skills he can use in the future.

Hi Joey, now i'm even more confused than I was before. This is what I was just told by the woman I spoke with that works at the parole board. He has PR conditions of anger management and comp vo tech. She mentioned PR 60 days but she wasn't certain of what that meant. Upon his release, the special conditions he has to meet are max supervision and community service. I understand CS but what is considered max supervision? Aslo, the PR 60 days, what does that mean? See how confused I am now? If he got pre-release then that means he does or doesn't have to take vo-tech? Dang, all this is mind boggling. Help!
Oh, I was also told that he can write in to the parole board for a reconsideration regarding his anger management, stating that is something is has already completed. Any ideas anyone? Would it be worth the time or not?
Thanks for all your answers.

Peaches, YES he can request a reconsideration and you can show them he's already taken anger management. The best thing to do would be have him write the board and request a reconsideration based on him already having anger management. One of three things will happen:
1) They'll say no to a reconsideration hearing
2) They'll say yes to a reconsideration hearing and accept the "outside" anger management as sufficient
3) they'll say yes to a reconsideration hearing and tell you that ADCs classes are so much better than outside classes, and he'll better benefit from an ADC class

Find out if he can take Vo-Tech and anger management at the same time. Find out where Vo-Tech is offered.

Maximum supervision probably just means the ankle-bracelet and more frequent contact with parole officer.
