i just bought an ipod and i wanted to know if you HAVE to get the songs from itunes.com or can you get them from other places?? i am new to the ipod world so i need all the help i can get :)

you can get the tunes from any place, as long as they are in a format that your ipod uses,

Play MP3, AAC and Apple Lossless according to the apple web site...so that means if you have songs already on your computer you can transfer them over...

I just use iTunes as my transfer spot for my iPod. I had tons of music on my pc. When I first started iTunes, it pulled all my music in and switched them to the right format. It takes a little bit of time in the beginning, but now that I have them all sorted into playlists and titled right, it's super fast and easy. And I'm still able to use Roxio to listen or burn as my default choice so it works out good for me.

Meadow, you know it comes with the iTunes program, when you put a cd into your computer in the iTunes program you hit IMPORT (that's at the top right) to put the cd into the iTunes program, you can put the whole album or just songs. I, myself, only use my iTunes and I borrow cd's from friends when they have some stuff that I may want! The iPod will become your new best friend! I can't go anywhere without mine now!

If you look around on the menu functions at iTunes, you'll see where to do it. I'm not at home right now to look for the exact button, but it wasn't hard to find...promise. Import to Library does sound right.

If it helps, I figured out how to import my music into iTunes wayyy before I figured out how to change the volume on my iPod. That one stumped me for the longest time :D :D :D

lol lol okay i gotcha! i picked up one last night, but i returned it because i got it at the target store for 149.99 but on target.com the same exact one was only 99.99! so i will have to wait a few days until i can play with it, but at least i got it for cheaper!

You're gonna love it. I just now finally got a car lighter charger for mine a few weeks back on eBay, so now I can listen to it nonstop without the battery going dead. And I haven't listened to the radio since...woo hoo! I'm thinking of getting the wi/fi(?) adapter next so I can play it through any radio no matter where I'm at. I'm seriously addicted :haha:

There's a lot of iPod boards out there too with great info on how to set up the little details. I think they're linked through iTunes so you should be ok if you can't find the volume too :D

Meadow, everyone is right it is import library and it is very simple. Also did you tell target that you could get it on target.com for cheaper. they usually match prices? have fun, I love my Ipod

hey ravens, yes i did today before i oredered the one off the net and actually returned it. they tried to tell me that they dont match prices and that the net and the actual store are 2 seperate things! WHAT CRAP IF YOU ASK ME! but anyway, does anyone have the ipod shuffle??? thats the one i got!

I have the mini but I've heard good things about the Shuffle!

I'm ticked because I couldn't wait a year and the new gen mini's hold way more music...grr. That's the way of iPods though so I'll wait a few years and save up to get an even better one...lol.
