This petition is to address a very serious and degrading issue that is happening to our women in the Ohio prison system. The women are being given only one bag of sanitary napkins per month, which is around 12 pads. They are being forced to buy any extra that they may require. The state is demanding these women pay for the extra pads on a pay of $4 to $21 dollars a month. Now if you are a women reading this you know that 12 pads is not an amount that you would rely on to keep you clean and safe. Which brings us to the main concern here...The health issues that this will cause. If they don't have the supply they need they will have to resort to humiliating, not to mention inhumane ways to cover themselves and keep them clean. This is something we need to stop right now before major medical problems arise and it is to late..because then you will bill them for a medical issue that you could have prevented...PLEASE take us serious because we are committed to seeing this through..

Hi everyone,
I Just got off the phone with the Governors Assistant Mike Komaschka, about Operation Mad Pad. He said there was a article in the Dayton paper which I will look for as soon as I'm done with this email, He stated to me that they would issue 40 napkins upon entry and 16 thereafter whenever a women needed them...He said that the women were misusing them to put in there shoes and for shoulder pads ect..Ok first I said don't punish all women because of a few others..then I explaind that these women are not properly cared for and their shoes probably so worn out they needed to desperatly do something..and as far as shoulder pads...I told him that one didin't fly because shoulder pads were not the style today...give me a break....so he don't me that the women that were menapause...shouldn't get them and that the women can ask for more any time they needed them and didn't have to pay for them....I explained to him that was totally wrong...I have a penpal that just went in from county here and she just wrote me ..not knowing a thing about our Operation Mad Pad as she couldn't write to me for several weeks while be transferred and she told me that getting pads in there was impossible and that she had to use tolite paper!! I explained to him the unsanitary conditions this could lead to and do they want another outbreak of infections like the staph one that is going on?? Well us tax payers want them to recieve they pads now and not pay bigger bucks down the road for medical care and clean up!! and of course the most serious part is the ladies need and deserve good clean protection!!
He said he would check into and get back to me....if I don't hear anything by next week I'm calling back!!

I dont understand....they ARE in prison aren't they? They could get none and have to pay for all of them. They committed crimes that landed them where they are at...they aren't there voluntarily so they have to deal with it. There are far more prison injustices going on than this yet people waste their time and money on whether or not these criminals have enough sanitary napkins??? Save your money and send it to aid victims of violent crimes or something worth while. The way I see it is, jail isn't meant to be easy. It isnt meant to be fun, it is meant to punish and to make you not want to go back. it's pathetic

Why are you so bitter?
this is a health issue first of all....if these women arent' properly taken care of..then we..the tax payer will pay more for medical cost that will undoublty occure....and to humiliate and degrade is not rehabilatation!!
We want these women taken care of because they will be your neighbor and your co worker sometime!!
