View Full Version : PTO Vacation- Are you interested?
one_luv 04-17-2005, 02:56 PM When my husband got locked up, vacations were one of the first things to go.
But after accepting that he is going to be gone a long time, I decided that I had a responsibility to keep on living and doing the things I love to do, one of which is traveling, especially out of the country.
I have always taken my daughter, but now that she is 13 and a teenager, she is no longer the best traveling companion. I'm ready for a trip without her. So, I got to thinking last night. Are any of you interested in a PTO "Waiting Wives" vacation trip thus summer? I realize a lot of you have men coming home shortly and have no desire to travel without them, but I know there are other women on this board that are spending many years without their man.
I would find a decent hotel at a location the most people are interested in, and keep the cost down so people could afford to go. Everyone would make ther own arrangements to get there, but I would provide detailed information, and try to get a good deal on rooms if a group of us are going and bunking together. I've organized group travel before so I think I can plan this sucessfully.
If you are interested in going, please respond to this thread.
Would you bring your kids or come alone?
Would you rather do a 1-week trip to Mexico or a 3 or 4-day trip to a spa ? If it's a spa- Colorado, Arizona or California?
Would the late July or early August work for you?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how sure are you that you want to and can do this?
Do you want to share a room with one or more women?
If enough people are interested, we'll start looking at details.

mrsdragoness 04-17-2005, 05:27 PM We are having PTO Day(s) at Cedar Point, Sandusky Ohio July 9-10! Additionally many state forums have summer g2g's planned. You may want to check those out.
We have 2 camping adventures planned in Michigan. The first weekend in June is an adults only weekend, then a family camping/pig roast g2g in August!
Additonally, if this is to be an official PTO Function, please contact Administration for approval for your adventure!

one_luv 04-17-2005, 06:58 PM This would not be an official PTO function. I know PTO has conferences, campings, and get-to-togethers, but this would be an actual vacation at a resort. It would be about fun and relaxation and taking caring of ourselves.
My post was directed at women without SO at home (both single and married), and that's why I posted in the HB/BF forum. If I re-worded it, can it go in the HB/BF forum- there's not even a "moved" link now.
optimistic 04-17-2005, 07:10 PM Not married (just inviting myself..LOL).....but I'm always down for a get-away!! A spa get-away sounds so relaxing but shoot Mexico works too. Just let me know!!!
OHHHH something else to be excited about... :)
mzknotty 04-17-2005, 08:10 PM count me in
location unimportant
one_luv 04-17-2005, 08:20 PM wo-hooooooo! I think the only guidelines should be "Ladies only". And what happens on vacation, stays on vacation..........
Optomistic I'm so glad you want to come. You can settle any cat fights that might arise. You're such a doll.
Wingy 04-18-2005, 04:13 AM oops, i take it back, I am not into resorts

No, it can't. This is the forum for all get-togethers, PTO sanctioned or not.
MiaBellaAngela 04-18-2005, 04:39 PM Possibly. I would need to know where it is first so I can determine how much it would cost to get there. July and Aug are fine.
NO kids, that's a not a vacation with them to me :p
I would come by myself (my baby is incarcerated).
I might room with someone, it depends too.
venicespirit 04-18-2005, 05:01 PM A spa sound so good. Is it possible to keep the cost down. Kids or no kids, i can probably do either. I would love more details when you figure it out, so i can plan a little ahead.
optimistic 04-19-2005, 09:44 AM one-luv do you have an update for us?
one_luv 04-19-2005, 10:47 PM I am on the West coast, and it looks like several of the responders are in Calif. I am thinking 3 or 4 nights at a spa/resort? With both planned activites or just kicking it/relax time? Some people could drive and not pay airfare. Stay as many nights as you can? If we bunk two to a room, it would be cheaper, but even if I could keep it $200-300 a night could ya'all do that?
I can start looking at resorts/spas in California, out in the country. I will report back since soon there seems to be some interest.
I'm thinking the first weekend in August or last week in July?
one_luv 04-20-2005, 09:14 AM Reporting back on prices. I can definetly find a great spa/resort in Southern Cal for under $200/night. Full details and options to come....................
loving my baby 05-13-2005, 12:01 AM Count me in too. Sounds like fun.:)
