I'm planning a visit to my penpal in the Sawyer County Jail and wonder if anyone has any comments on the staff or what to expect. I will be calling the jail for specific rules, etc. It's my first visit to a jail/prison/correctional facility and though we've been communicating for months, this is the first time I'll meet my penpal.

His visiting hours were recently changed to weekdays only, making it nearly impossible for his family to visit. So I'm going. Does a weekday-only policy seem odd to anyone else? County jail's in my part of the state offer a mix of weekday/weekend visiting hours.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'd call the jail for details. Make sure the info is accurrate. Hayward WI is a cute little town, my mom lives there so I make it up a few times a year. You should enjoy it.
The jail is very small. Not sure how the staff in general is. It's run by the sherriffs rather than the department of correction. It's the same place holding the gentleman that has been charged with the killings of the hunters in northern Wisconsin.

Have fun in Hayward, stay safe. Since this is just a penpal, I'm assuming he/she is a stranger, so be careful. Who knows, I have family in and out of there pretty often, for all I know you could be seeing one of my cousins. Just kidding.... sort of. Any questions, just private message me.
