View Full Version : New to the ADOC!
teamrenfroe-1 04-17-2005, 01:29 AM Hi everyone, and thanks for welcoming me here at PTO, and leading me here to the Alabama section.:D
My husband is currently incarcerated at Bibb County Corrections in Brent, AL. "Nice" little drive for me and my daughter every other weekend. But so far I have only missed 1 visit, and that was because my truck broke down during the winter.:(
My husband...Wendell, is doing a 15 split...I'm new to all the "jargon" but he has to serve 2 and do 5 on paper. I'm still trying to do anything I can to get him home sooner, or at least to a closer prison.:shake:
We live near Eufaula and it takes me 3 1/2- 4 hours to get to the prison. I dont know why they make things so much harder on the families of inmates. There are a few prisons closer.
Anyone with any advise, or if your loved one is in Bibb, please contact me. I would love to have communication with someone who knows what I am going through, and especially with this particular prison. And the Crime Bill situation....Thats another long story.
Thanks again to everyone.
May God bless all of you and yours.
You are all in our prayers.:grouphug:

The weekend is a little slow around here but I am sure someone will come along shortly who have a loved one at Bibb. My son is at Ventress which is quite close to where you are. He has finished his SAP program and now is just waiting his time to come home in November! :yay:
Welcome again!

Your husband can obtain a transfer, but normally requires 2-6 months. He can request a transfer for closer domain and convenience of his family. The Classification person, at his facility, will send the form to Montgomery. Central Records will process the form, consider his crime conviction, length of sentence, and prison record since induction. A list is compiled for transfer with the next "chain" for a closer facility. Good Luck with the transfer, keep visiting, and writing. Keep us posted with your visits and his status. 38 Special

How's the fishing at Lake Eufaula? Are they catching any "slab crappie"? Where's a good place for launching a boat? Do you have a phone number and/or directions? My boys and I fish in most every lake in Alabama during the Spring and Summer. Your info would be helpful and most appreciated. 38 Special

E1950 04-18-2005, 09:35 AM welcome to pto. I don't have any information on Bibb County but someone will come along with information.
ADOC does make everything they can harder for the families, but I hope you are able to get him closer to you. most all of us have or have had a very long drive to visit our loved ones so we understand what your going through.
hang in there and remember that we are here to listen anytime you need to talk. feel free to look around the site where you'll find very good information and some of the most wonderful supportive people on earth.
take care and have a great day

small town usa 07-16-2005, 05:49 PM Bibb Co. Here, My husband has been at Bibb for three years. Its just like all the others, Good guards, Bad guards, depending on how their day is going. I know how you feel about the drive, it takes me 2 1/2 hours from Decatur and I be tired also. I visit on Sundays, whats your day? If you need any help along the way, just drop me a line and we will communicate. Good luck, drive safe and hang-in-there. But please don't believe the hype, it really does not get any better, its just 'love' that keeps us going.
stickvb 07-16-2005, 08:10 PM Bibb county here also. my boyfriend has been there for 3 months. I dont know much about it because I live up North and he doesnt really talk about it that much except I know there is not many educational opportunities there which is sad because i was hoping he could go to one of the prisons where he could learn a trade., I plan to go down in december and visit with him. he is in on the habitual offender act.He had a drug problem and committed a burglary and them got caught twice with dirty urine so the Doc has him in for 2018 but he comes up for parole in Jan. 2007. Im keeping my fingers crosssed. he is about the most non violent person Ive ever met, and hes been good so hopefully that will count for something. Welcome, this is a great place to come for comfort, support and answers. Its like a second family to me now. It helps so much to know that there are other people out there in the same boat, facing the same emotional challenges in dealing with not being able to be with their loved ones.
