My boyfriend is a heroine addict. He's about to go to prison, but I haven't been told which one yet.All I know is it's in Connecticut. I am worried about how they will deal with his addiction. I've heard they give them crank.Does anyone know if this is true? I want him to break his addiction. If he didn't have to go to prison,he would currently be in rehab. I need to know if they will help him break it. if they don't,then when he gets out,I'm taking him to rehab. I know it sounds mean and everything but how are we supposed to get married and have kids if he is doing this? He wants to quit anyway. He NEEDS to quit. He's on so many medications. In the last month he has been to the hospital for an od,three times. Three times in a month......

Hi, I answered you in your introduction thread too. It was my understanding that your boyfriend was awaiting trial?? If so, did he get bonded out on the $ 27,000? I'm asking because I was just confused on how he OD if he was still in prison awaiting trial.

If your boyfriend was in treatment (methadone) the prison would give him methadone and detox him off the methadone during his incarceration. If he was not in treatment, he will more than likely have to go thru the painful detox on his own. And no, the prison does not give him crank. I'm sure some drugs get thru, but if he does not have the $$ to pay for them or any other manner to get them..then no, he will not get any. Hope this helps....

MY BOYFRIEND IS ALSO A HEROIN ADDICT. WHEN HE GOT BUSTED 3 YEARS AGO THEY SENT HIM TO COUNTY WITH MANY PROMISES OF REHAB, ETC. THE TRUTH IS HE SUFFERED A GREAT DEAL. COMING OFF THE DRUG IS HARD AND IT IS EVEN HARDER TO COME OFF IT COLD TURKEY. HE HAD THE SWEATS, SHAKES, VOMITING, ETC. HE TOLD ME HE USED TO HAVE DREAMS ABOUT GETTING HIGH. IT TOOK HIM A LONG TIME TO STOP CRAVING IT. HE HAS BEEN DOWN FOR 3 YEARS NOW. WHEN HE WAS IN COUNTY THEY DID OFFER SOME DRUG CLASSES, NOT THAT MUCH THOUGH, AND NO ACTUAL HELP TO COME OFF IT. THEY JUST THREW HIM IN HIS CELL AND THAT WAS THE EXTENT OF THEIR "HELP". NOW THAT HE IS FEDS HE WILL BE GOING TO RDAP IN THE NEXT YEAR OR SO. THIS IS A TOUGH BATTLE, BUT HANG IN THERE THEY CAN OVERCOME IT.

He just went yesterday or the day before. It's all been one long day to me. He did get bonded out and I'm glad he did but I didn't know he was going to go on a drug binge. Thanks for answering my threads! I don't even think he's in CT. I'm so mad b/c he wouldn't give me very many details about anything. I know there's some street racing charges, fleeing, resisting arrest, destruction of gov't property, possession of a firearm, possession of heroin, there's so many.He wouldn't tell me where he got busted. I called the Hartford County jail and they said if he was anywhere in CT,he would be in their computer and he's NOT. SO I guess he got busted in NYC. All this happened while I was out of state and he was too paranoid to tell me about it.He was afraid someone was bugging him....

thank you for telling me that. Me being in Arkansas right now and him in CT is apparently part of why he started doing drugs again. But I have some stuff down here I have to take care of. He has a possession charge on him,do you know what the mandatory sentence is on that? I've been looking for rehab places for him to go to when he gets out. I haven't even slept since he went in b/c I've been freaking out about what's going to happen and all the stuff I have no clue about that I wish he would have told me. I don't even know where the hell he is right now.:(

Do the prisons offer treatment at all? My man had a positive UA while on work release. They just moved him from county to a state facility but I don't think he's been offered any treatment options.

Some facilities have cut the programs but there should at least be AA groups in there. You can call the prison and ask and also some state facilities say on their internet pages when they offer those kinds of programs though just because its not mentioned it doesnt mean its not a program there.
If you call the facility to ask I suggest you ask to speak to the chaplain and ask them about it. You will most likely get a more useful answer from the chaplain.

can he not start his methadone treatment before he gets in? that why the prison is obligated to continue. But if you find out that he is in but not yet sentenced perhaps you can ask the judge to include treatment so that they have to send him where there is treatment. Things in Canada are alitle different. I think that if he askes through a judge he's got a better chance.
