TORONTO - Toronto police have cancelled an Amber Alert issued Tuesday night for a six-week-old girl allegedly abducted by her mother, who was said to be mentally unstable.

The child, Graciana Heughan, was found unharmed, officials said as they called off the search.

Graciana was dressed in a pink one-piece jumper and wrapped in a winter coat when she disappeared in downtown Toronto during a supervised parental visit with Children's Aid authorities.

An Amber Alert was issued at 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday for the child and her mother, former Playboy model and B-movie actor Lisa Heughan, 38.

Constable Doug McCaw said Heughan was "mentally unstable at this time and we believe the baby is in imminent danger."

Officials later clarified that they feared the child would become dehydrated, not that her mother would try to harm her.

The Amber Alert system, named after the young victim of a 1996 abduction and murder in Texas, is meant to help authorities find children quickly in cases of suspected abduction.

Broadcasters and digital highway signs send out messages about a child's disappearance in the hope that someone who has seen the child or the suspected kidnapper will contact police.
