I have been sentenced to 10 months in a federal prison. I was told that it would be the women's prison in Bryan, TX. What should I expect? I have been reading alot of horrible articles about women's prisons. Will I have to do the entire 10 months?

First, welcome to PTO. Have you had a chance to search through the site for the Bryan prison? There is a lot of info here about it, as well as pictures. There is also another new member that has been senenced there recently.
The forum that should have the most info is: The Road To Prison. I am going to move this post to that thread and leave a re-direct.
As for how much time you will do, I would have to say probably from 6-9 months depending on half-way house and a few other issues. They used to give out up to 6 months in 1/2 way house but I believe they are going from your 10% date now.

Thanks Lulu!l I am set to start my sentence May 5th. Anyone out there who would be a pen pal for me, please let me know. I can be emailed at email@example.com
Welcome to PTO! I wish you well on your journey and hopefully you will gather enough information while here at PTO to help you through these hard times!
Yes, do set yourself up with a pen pal as that person could remain your contact to PTO and continue the support line...
All the best - you will be in my thoughts!

Does asnyone know what personal items, I could take with me. Where could I get a list. Who could I call for info (directions to the prision, visitation hours and days, etc.)?

Believe it or not this Texas utility company newsletter has a big ass article on Byran.
I go in May1st... not to Bryan unfortunately... for some reason I think I might be popular there.
