Hi, It's not too bad. The visiting room is small, but they can walk with you to the machines. There are windows, close tables to talk to each other, the gaurds are pretty cool! I don't know where you were before, but compared to Waupun this is much better. and much smaller. My guy says the imates are not as cool as Waupun, but it's med nopt Max so thats cool. Who do you have there? And for how long? Best of luck to you!

Stanley: Anyone else out there think that Stanley needs help?? My son is there, the guards are as rude as they can be. Same for the inmates inside, the guards there think they can run on their own set of rules, and believe this one because I spoke with the associate warden who says she is trying to change things there, but they are not getting better,,,,,,,,,,,in fact the guards say she has nothing to say about anything, and that they wish the families would quit getting involved with the inmates there. Is this a place we want out loved ones,,,,,,,not I,,,, I am trying to get my son transferred someplace else.

My honey told me the guards treat them like crap. The gurads, do live by their own rules and my honey says it really sucks. He said he knew what he had done wrong and is sorry for that he does not need someone treating him like crap just because he made a mistake.

STANLEY CORRECTIONAL:
The prison is now under investigation by the dept of corrections, they have more problems at Stanley than any other institution!!! It is horrible there and the warden does nothing about it..... The guards there treat the inmates like crap and the visitors,,,, when questioned about the rules that the guard can make up as they go say well this is a different place,,,,,,,, people tell you loved ones in there to have their families contact the dept of corrections and the govenors office, I do both on a weekly basis because I am not going away I want my son out of Stanley

I have been going to Stanly twice a month for the past year and have only had one bad experiance. There is a femal gaurd who works the front who is not so freindy, but I don't usally see her. In the vist there is a femal gaurd who is very nice, always speaks to me and my children and when my husband comes out she always comments on how our son looks just like him. I guess I iam one of the lucky ones to don't have a bad experience. He was at Waupun max, and every time I was there it was a problem! I just hope his next move will be here to Osh Kosh. Good luck to you all...

I also, from a visitor's viewpoint (and I am normally there 3 times/week), have not had a problem whatsoever with the CO's at Stanley.

I have heard some can be harsh at times with some of the inmates, but I'm not sure of the circumstances that led to the so called harshness, so I really can not say. I'm sure it's all in how a person perceives things. However, if there is a valid reason for an investigation, then by all means the situation should be dealt with accordingly.

take it from someone who knows, Stanley is really not that horrible. There's a horrible smell that comes around throughout the place, but that's about all. i don't know if you guys know or not, but the investigation you're talking about is no longer going on (at least not that i know of). Oakhill is currently the one under the microscope. About the guard situation... trust me, it's not just the inmates they're horrible to. it's EVERYONE. that goes the same for all prisons in WI, except for Oakhill, where everyone is exceptionally nice. if anyone has any questions about the prisons in the state, feel free to PM me. i gaurantee i can provide some needed help.

I use to go there every monday before I got suspended for 6 months. To me it seems that the male Co's are cooler then the female Co's.
