View Full Version : Heading to Polunsky HAVE questions (again)
I am heading to Polunsky in 20 days :D
Ok, I have a heap of questions, one of them is, that I have special visits booked in. Now, they dont give tickets out no more (and I have been told I need to show my ticket), they use a "E ticketing system" here. I will have a print out of itinary, and a boarding pass, etc, will that be sufficient to show them? I am worried now, cause I am specifically going to visit. ANY IDEAS??
Ok, i will come up with more questions as I go I suppose, but that is my main worry.
ladyarkles 04-04-2005, 01:13 AM Yup, E-ticket is fine, that's all I ever show.
R-e-l-a-x!!:D
LoL thanks Rach, I knew you would keep me calm. I am getting sooooooo nervous. Actually its 18 days, leaving here on the 22nd April, and the clock is ticking :)

I second that, and I wish I were going too!
Ok another question... Texas ladies??
I was wondering if there is any public transport between Houston and Livingston. I am having problems finding somewhere reasonable to stay in Livingston, left it to the last minute, and I am stuck. I AM also SCARED to drive in Houston, as we drive on the opposite side of the road, and last time I drived in the US, I was lucky not to get seriously injured, and have the car in one peice (like reversing out the wrong way, turning right instead of left), that kind of scary stuff.
Any suggestions????
ladyarkles 04-08-2005, 07:31 PM DRIVE!!!!
Or failing that, I believe there may be a greyhound service Houston - Huntsville and a connecting bus. Hopefully one the Texas gals can fill you in better. As far as I know (and I hope I'm wrong) there are no buses, trains or services direct from the airport, it's really tricky! Can you get a lift from the airport or something?
The public transport is scarce and not particularly good!
Kyla, if you can face it - DRIVE!!
You''ll be fine, honest!
It is one straight road from airport to Livingston! If I can do it, you can!!
I can send you the maps, directions etc!!
ToAsTy 04-08-2005, 07:54 PM Kyla,
Drive girl you'll be fine, just imagine a mirror. Your the figure in it. Driving in the US is a little scary but you'll be fine i promise you!. Congrats on going there, i bet he will be thrilled to see you... does he know that your coming?
Yep Toasty, he knows I am coming :D
How did you go? I have driven in the US before, and I tell you, I promised myself never again, I was so scared. Can I hire a car with an aussie drivers license, or do I need to try and apply for an international one?
ToAsTy 04-08-2005, 08:13 PM Kyla, you need to go to RAA or the equivelent to that, and get an international drivers licence they only cost about $15 on the spot, just make sure you bring in a passport photo fo yourself which is no more than 6 months old and they will stamp it and give it to you, you will then be able to drive all over the world, it lasts for 12 months from the date of issue.
lol, how did i go? :p i was scared sh**less but i go the hang of it pretty quickly. I would suggest you drive an auto, especially if you are nervous, my hubby threw me straight in a stick shift. He told me that i had to get the hang of it now or never and i did it!!! :D
You'll be fine... remember that everyone else on the road doesn't know what they are doing but you do, be confident and you'll be fine... start practising here lol, drive on the wrong side of the road (where there isn't any traffic ofcourse). Just don't get busted by the cops.
Is he heaps excited that your going to see him?... gosh i'm excited for you!!! make sure you keep us all posted.
kmlchitown 04-08-2005, 09:07 PM hey kyla i think these ladies are forgeting , we Aussie dont take directions to well , ok its one straight road but that straight road might just go all the way to las Vagas LMAO i hear you sister I'ld be trying to bus it as well LMAO
Ok anyone that is visiting Polunsky and gets stuck. I found a lovely place to stay, a little cottage six minutes away from the prison. Its $50 a night, BUT, the lady will drive you to the prison, and when you are done, you can call her and she will pick you up. No need to hire cars, worry about cab fares or anything. If anyone ever gets stuck PM me, and I will send you the info :D She is close to all the shops in Livingston as well, and will even when you arent visiting, let you in her car, and take you for a tour :D
I will let you all know how it goes, but she is VERY sweet and kind. :) She absolutely promised me safety first, that was her main priority, to make sure all he guests are safe. !!!
