Key cities in Thailand get Justice offices NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Mar 22 (TNA) – Thailand has opened offices of the Ministry of Justice in five key cities.
Justice Minister Suwat Liptapanlop chaired the opening of one of the five offices in the country's north-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima on Monday.
Four other offices in the nothern Chiang Mai Province, the southern Phuket Province, the eastern Chacherngsoa Province and the northeastern Ubon Ratchathani Province were officially opened at the same time yesterday.
The ministry plans to open offices in all Thailand's 75 provinces to give Thais increased access to ministry officials to file complaints and seek legal advice.
"It's likely that I'll call a meeting of senior officials of the Justice Ministry on 28 March to discuss the government's new justice policies and guidelines," said the minister.
This includes giving prisoners vocational training to help them with their social rehabilitation and to find employment at the end of their prison terms.
“This will prevent them from repeatedly returning to the jails,” Mr. Suwat said.
The ministry also plans to overhaul the prison system and make sure that prisoners are better and more humanly treated. (TNA)
