Ravenslove 03-24-2005, 05:50 PM There are a lot of us out here. If I can answer any questions for you let me know. 03 B&C 03-25-2005, 12:46 AM So tell me this because I hear sooo much about it at the institution I visit. Is it very common for an inmate to have a "relationship" (sexual or not) with a CO? DagosBrighteyes 05-04-2005, 10:34 AM Former CO and yes it is very common and when they are caught the CO is walked off hte unit and there are times they are arrested at the unit and sent to state jail it is illegal and the inmates do it 99% of the time so they can use the CO to bring in or move contrand. lstreeval 05-04-2005, 04:13 PM I am an ex C.O. That is how I met my baby 11 years ago. Anything you want to know, just ask. I know that they are all different state to state, but anything to do with Wisconsin or just general questions, I'm sure I can help you out with. Lisa TomT 05-21-2005, 12:37 PM I work for Arizona at Florence. If you need to ask a question about Florence, I'll try to help. NISL 05-29-2005, 12:33 AM Since I've been a CO there have been 3 Officers who have been let go because of inappropriate relations with an Offender. This was before it became a felony in my state. jazzes_girl 06-13-2005, 06:52 PM u r right,it does happen...its also true that alot of inmates get something started just to get them to bring in contraband...and/or just for sexual gratification...some of the inmates spend alot of time observing everything an everyone...so they can see whos vulnerable.but they always get caught.... lstreeval 06-13-2005, 07:27 PM There are alot of us. Any questions, you can ask me or any of us. Lisa Valentine4ever 06-21-2005, 01:26 PM HELLO, I AM AN EX-CO......I'VE BEEN AWAY FROM THERE FOR THE LAST 6 YRS.....BUT IN THERE IS WHERE I MET MY PRECIOUS VALENTINE......IN THAT PLACE IS WHERE A LEARNED A LIFE-ALTERING LESSON.....AND SO IT IS!!!!:) IF THERE'S ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO ASK ME FEEL FREE!!!!! suzeg3 07-01-2005, 07:56 AM ok, I do have a question and TRULY no offense intended, but what drew you to that particular job? Ravenslove 07-01-2005, 09:15 AM ok, I do have a question and TRULY no offense intended, but what drew you to that particular job? Money, in the area I lived and worked there were no jobs that paid well. The prison was one of the highest paid jobs around. I had to eat. I hated the job they don't treat the guys well. I did meet my fiancee while he was incarcerated at the prison I worked. Chances R~~ 07-03-2005, 06:30 PM I am guilty also......I was a CO for 12 years at a maximum security prison in MO. I met my guy there but I did not have a relationship with him while I was employed there. I have been away from the prison almost 5 years. My guy always tried to get with me there BUT I said "Nope" He looked me up when he got out and we have been absolutely crazy about each other since then. He rolled back on a probation violation last Sept. So here I am! If you have ANY questions..............I will do my best to answer them (from my point of view) **{H}} And YES it was the money and the benefits that sucked me in and kept me there. waynesbabydoll 07-07-2005, 01:23 PM I am also a former co. For me, at first, applying was just a lark, I had been on adjudicated probation at one time in my early 20's and I thought I'll just see if I can get the job. Not to mention the fact that I had lost my great job at Wally world, and I was ready for a change and quiet possibly a real career.( Although, I didn't meet Wayne there, we dated previously and have known one another since we were kids.) The unit I worked on was the women's intake for TDCJ and it's also a state jail. Here, in Tx., it does happen that the co's both men and women end up having affairs with inmates. I believe it's a state felony here, the co will lose their career, and end up doing time themselves. The way it's looked at here is that the inmate is also taken advantage of and in some instances that was and has happened. Because in a sense the co's have "control" over the inmates and what happens to them, particulary those doing prison time. For instance if an inmate gets in trouble for something the co could tell them that they won't give them a case if they do a sexual favor for them. Which is one of many things that makes it so hard for the good, honest, hard working co's!!!!!!!! Yes, there really are alot of them out there I had the pleasure of working with some!!!! :D suzeg3 07-07-2005, 03:11 PM Intersting, thanks for your replies. I was just curious because well, I think I would have a hard time doing that job. But I did not mean to imply that there are not good CO's, I know there are and have met some while visiting my husband. Ravenslove 07-08-2005, 07:22 AM suzeg, good question I don't think anyone took offense. Willsgirl 07-11-2005, 02:48 PM ok, I do have a question and TRULY no offense intended, but what drew you to that particular job? For me it was money, since I don't have any kids and I was young, and it was more money then I was making at my other job and I didnt really have to do much I thought hey, easy money. I worked there for a year, then I quit, just wasnt the job for me. Thizzguy 07-22-2005, 01:41 AM I Spent a few years in the California Youth Authority, which is basicly prison for people who commited the crime when they were under 18, it houses people up to 25 years old. Since I was a minor i was able to seal my record and I am now persuing a job with the CDC system. So any questions you may have, ask and i might be able to help ilovemyshaun 07-22-2005, 01:50 AM If there are any former CO's from Cali. I would really love to talk with one.. and find out some info. on how PC'S and Sex Offenders are treated because My Husband is one. Any info.... anyone? you can PM me. timber_fairy 09-17-2005, 11:18 PM I was a Co in Texas for 8 years. I quit 9 months ago. I still keep up with things that go on through my friends that work there if anyone needs to know anything funnyface09 09-18-2005, 12:41 AM We have a few CO's from Calif here. Gatekeeper is one of them, JohnS is actually a prison Counselor, and I can't remember the other names. Try searching for them and check out their posts. One of them has already answered that question regarding SO's and other inmates/CO's, etc. to all our CO's and EX DOC workers, welcome. We are glad to have you. I know some of you have been around for quite a while and have been a huge help to our members here. We really appreciate your honesty and input and the care you take in answering them. Sherrie anonymous-in-sc 09-18-2005, 12:45 AM So tell me this because I hear sooo much about it at the institution I visit. Is it very common for an inmate to have a "relationship" (sexual or not) with a CO? Unfortunately, it's very common not only with CO's or higher-ranking officials but nurses too. My husband is also a CO at a max-security institution that houses inmates with full-blown AIDS, and just this year they've caught five different female CO's having unprotected sex with these inmates. A lot of staff will give up their jobs to continue relationships with their incarcerated loved one, because SCDC has a zero tolerance policy on sexual misconduct with inmates. You are terminated immediately and in some cases will even earn yourself 'three hots and a cot'. I was suprised to learn that it's a more common occurrence (in SCDC) with the female officers and nurses than male officers. shadowjack69 09-18-2005, 12:15 PM I am a C/O in NC have worked close custody, med custody and now work minimum custody..(I get around...:D ) I did 20 in the military and have done 10 for DOC so far... it is one of the better paying jobs around (or at least use to be...no raises for the last 3 years...:( ) and I did not want to move again or go over state lines for a better job...taxes and all that.... so here I am....if I can help you ...I will... I reply to your question...we have lost alot of officers and nurses for being involved w/an inmate...3 male officers (that I know about) and more females then I can count.....alot of times an Inmate will get involved just so he can get the officer fired and get bragging rights other times it is to move and get contraband... Hope this helps ... |
