OK... dumb question but... can I wear black jeans to visit Old Folsom. I think I saw black, white and pink jeans being worn the first time I visited Folsom. Actually, I saw lots of clothes, including sleeveless tops, being worn that the official list of clothes stated would not allowed. I would like to be comfortable when I visit my son, but don't want to wear black jeans and then find I have to change clothes in the car. Thanks...

Yes, but make sure they are really black. Sometimes jeans look faded black when they are really darker blue. :)

Thanks for all the input. I just bought the black Gloria Vanderbilt jeans at Costco. So, they are definintely black and not faded yet. I guess I better check out what everyone is wearing on Saturday when I visit for the second time and see if anyone got through with GV jeans, before I risk it.
Thanks Again :)

My own experience at other California prisons is that, while I usually get in with black, it is subject to the eyes of the beholder (the correctional officer). I agree with the comments above about fading--I'm colorblind which makes things a bit more difficult for me. I'm better off in clothes that are very different from the guards or the inmates. For me, that is slacks (not jean type pants) with a pattern.
Good luck...

Just make sure you bring a change of clothes just to be safe. I have been warned about wearing my black jeans. But then again they were the faded black.

Update on Black Pants....
I went for my second visit to Old Folsom to see my son. It was fantastic. I brought his girlfriend with me. He was happy and surprised. :)
OK... I chickened out. I didn't attempt to wear my Black Gloria Vanderbilt jeans yesterday to my visit. But, I talked with Officier Benson at visiting processing. He said black jeans were ok as long as they were really BLACK. He said any color jeans were ok as long as they didn't look like the inmates (blue jeans) or the COs (green). YEAH  I can now wear more comfortable pants...
Thanks for all the input.

Keviesmom:
I was there this w/e too. :) And I wore my usual prison jeans...black! :)
Benson is a doll, huh? It wasn't too bad this w/e. I like to go at the end of month because it's not usually as crowded.

Wendy,
Yeah. Benson is great. Very friendly and helpful. I wish they were all like him. I am surprised by your comment on less visitors at the end of the month. Not sure why that would be, but it is good to know. I plan to visit my son once a month, so maybe I will plan on end of the month visits. Maybe we will see each other sometime while visiting. I will look for a women in Black Jeans... I wonder how many women I will have to say Hi to before I find you !!! :D

PM me and I'll describe myself, so we can plan better. :)
I think there's less people at the end of the month, because those who get paid on the 1st are broke by then. Also, the second Saturday of every month is wedding w/e; so I rarely go then. Wedding parties often get large and it gets way too crowded on those days. Anyway, I try to go at the end of the month to avoid the crowds. And yes, all CO's could learn a lot from Benson. He's respectful and yet follows the rules. I LOVE how he's actually yelling at the women dropping off to get back into their cars. :)
