Authorities found the body of a Mexican man near bales of marijuana and detectives are investigating whether the death and the drugs are related.
The man, who was found Sunday in a remote desert area near Arivaca, had been shot at least once, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a spokeswoman for the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
The bales of marijuana were lying about 200 yards from the body, Barkman said.
Sheriff's officials were alerted to the crime by U.S. Border Patrol agents who called them after finding the body.
