Hi everyone,
This is my first post on this site. I just want to say that I am a strong supporter of Scott Peterson. I believe that he was wrongfully accused and convicted. I am very familiar with the case, and will now be following the appeals process. I am relieved to have read that this site is not for discussing IF a person should be in prison... but rather a place for support for people trying to be supportive of somebody in prison. I just want to thank everyone in advance for that.

I have some questions for those that have loved ones or PP's on DR. What is the mail situation? Are letters taking weeks and weeks to get to the person? I heard letters sent over-night at the post office get to the person in two days.... does anybody know if that's true?

Any info about what real life on DR is like would be appreciated as well as suggestions for support.

Thanks everyone:)

My mail to SQ DR seems to take a few weeks. However I am in Europe but I know it gets to other places in the US in 5-6 days.
You may get more answers in the DR forums.

my husband is on DR and it takes up to 3 weeks for him to get his mail from me. i dont think scott is guilty either...they just didnt have the right evedence to be putting him on DR. that was the whole problem with the media and other people...the fact that he didnt grieve like thwey thought he should. so what??? hes not a wuss on national tv, what does that mean??? you dont know how that man may have cried himself to sleep at night do you? and for the fact that i have a husband on DR and i have insight about how it is there i take great offense that such a joke was being made about him being convicted to DR. when i went up there last thursday for my visit the media was all over the place, like it was scott petersons birthday or something.
life on death row is a miseralble place. youre alone 21 hours a day, shower every other day, your meals are served to you in your cell, the phone is even brought to your cell when you make your calls. they go otside for 2 hours a day. on DR they say there is no life, only existence. i refuse to receive that. my baby does have a life. hes still breathing, and hes very valuable to someone, and that is me his loving wife.

I have a Pen Pal on DR at SQ and it is taking about 4 weeks for him to get letters from me, I live in New York. The mailis exceptionally slow and I am only guessing, but if you send something overnight or priority it will still be processed in the same way as a regular letter. I am guessing that nothing makes this go any faster.

I know this may be off the subject of this thread and I apologize...but I was wondering, do they people on death row at San Quentin get to have contact visits or are their visits behind glass (Non-Contact)?

My PP gets contacts visits, they are in a visiting cage, with guards looking into your mouth to see what is being said, what sad lifes these guards must live when a persons life who is on DR is more interesting then their own.

Thanks RS for the response. I have no idea what your husband is in for.... and it doesn't matter to me. You are a person of obvious compassion and your heart loves this man.... he has a life because of that, not just existance.

I appreciate your comments on the Peterson case. I fully believe Scott is innocent, but I told myself I would not get caught up discussing the case here. I've spent two years doing that-- and I'm tired. The media brainwashing was very effective for most of the public- including the jury. I'll just leave it at that and hope that I can stay on topic here. My goal is to support Scott until he is a free man, and I figure that may take awhile...... so I'm trying to better understand what he is dealing with on a day to day basis.

Thanks again for the reply.

Good luck with the SQ DR mail. If you do find a faster way I would love to know about it!

I write to inmates in Florida-it depends on the mail. Usually about a week from the time I drop it in the mail box to a week and a half.

California Death Row get either non-contact or contact-it depends on their classification status.
