Hi Kaalilsis,

What kind of info do you need? My man was there for a few month last year and will be transferred there again anytime now.

Folsom Camp is GREAT!! My boyfriend is serving time there right now. He leaves the Prison grounds and goes in to the city to work (weed eatting, garbage, etc...) Visting is from 8:00 to 2:00 in an area where you can walk around and there are several benches. The best thing is that they are not under constant watch of guards with their weapons drawn. They sleep in barrock style quarters. That is about all I know. Nanci

My ex was there... its pretty cool if you can get approved for outside visits.. you can bring food in, BBQ walk around, hold hands and everything.. very cool place to be if you have to be locked down!!

My best friend's son is there. She much prefers visiting there to OF. It was hard at first for him, because there's so much freedom. But if the person hasn't been down doing hard time for a while, there's not much shock. :) He said they sleep like in buildings that resemble portables at schools. I think he said there's 15 guys, and it's like others' said...dorm living. I've never heard of or seen anyone bring food in. You still have to process where OF processes. But you don't have to get there early at all. Just show up when they open, and by-pass the line. DO NOT GET IN THAT LINE! You get to go right in the processing center as soon as you get there. Sign in, and they'll call your name to go thru the scanner, then you get into the van and they take you over. All visiting rules are the same as OF.
Best,
Wendy

my husband is at old folsom. her got there in the middle of december 2004 and got transfered to the camp in march. i must admit i suffered through that visiting and waiting while he was there. it is much like you are a piece of cattle especially when it is time to leave. but i must say the camp visiting experience is much more pleasurable!!! it is almost like summer camp. just as described above, you go to the front of the line in the OF processing. about 10 mins (max) they call you to get on the van and go up behind OF. the area that you visit in is bigger than what you are in behind the wall. there is grass and shade and an indoor area too. the visiting is more stressful, you can even play with the kids and in the large visiting. i am so happy that he went there and didnt remain behind the wall. i bring our daughter up there to visit without really hesitating. this is one of the best places they could be. but just dont mess up. if caught doing anything wrong, the CO runyan will try to make and example of you.
