I have a friend who was suddenly transferred from Coleman, being returned to Illinois and being indicted on a drug charge.
Any ideas what he's facing???

ANY input much appreciated. Thanks!

teeboo,

Welcome to PTO - glad that you found us here...

Do you know where he will be sent in Illinois? What prison?

Hello and welcome to PTO. :)
It is hard to tell what he is facing, drug charges has become pretty stiff on people. I would like to say, good luck and hope your firend comes out ok

Amir did state time and then started his fed time. I know the fed system is actually a little easier time (so he says). But, there is basically no parole, so they will serve the majority of their sentence. What else did you need to know?

Many thanks flygirl...
I know almost nothing about federal time, and wondered if the new charge will have a stiffer penalty because it was "interinstitutional" (for lack of a better word) Like, do they get more ticked because it happened on the inside, or is it irrelevant because he's a repeat offender?
He has four years in, and four and a half left, on the current federal charges...No telling what's ahead, eh?

Don't want to know what I'd do without PTO.

Yes it will increase his sentence if convicted on new charges. The fed you a point system that shows what time they are facing. With previous convictions that gives him more points against him.
