So my boyfriend has been in for 10 yrs. He has been in seg for 5 yrs now and he cant get his GED. They wont let him. He has put in many request but they have denied him. Does anyone have any advice for me? Should I call the warden and see what I can do? I mean do i have any pull since im just his girlfriend? He's in Tennesse colony, Texas micheal unit so if u have any info on that unit or prison that would be helpful to. Thank you very much and plz help!!!:(

It's a custody/security/test integrity problem. It is a very big deal to get enough inmates together for the GED test; one of the things that is required is that the inmate be disipline free for six months to a year, have no enemies and a bunch of other things. Since he is in Seg, it could be that there are special problems with his custody issues. The GED program is very picky about letting the test out in the prison....so it could be simply that there are too many hoops to jump thru to accomodate your BF

If the GED does not work out, you might look into the sorrespondence high school diploma offered by Indiana University through their distance learning, since all it would require would be that someone proctor an exam on an individual basis.
