My husband is actually a Level I, but when his counselor reclassified him, he kept him as a Level II.

He's not going to complain. If he were Level I he would have to be transferred and would end up a lot farther away from home. Plus....as long as he's close, I will be able to use all 7 visits each month.....when he's transferred, I won't be able to go as often. And the phone bills are cheaper.

I'm happy about this.....but I know his sister and Mom will be mad. They were really mad at him when he requested a transfer to be closer to me. I do feel bad because his sister has only brought his son to see him once since last June... she promised she would bring him every month....but hasn't. I would gladly give up one visit a month if she would...but so much for her promises.

In the meantime, I'm just happier he's staying where he's at for a while!!

mrs,

Will this effect when he gets out? Don't they have to be at level 1 for awhile before they parole out? I understand the reasoning for you guys though--the closeness and the cheaper calls.

He will have to go to Level I before he's paroled, but I think they will keep him where he's at for at least 6 months if not a year. He said its not a problem so I guess its OK...

I don't know if the same thing applies to all the prisons in Michigan... But Dale transferred to Baraga and they put him under a level V. His folks called to inquire about getting him to a lower level, and was told that he'd have to pull atleast 6 months before they'll put him at a lower level.
So, yea mrsD, if it's the same.. in 6 months, the dragon can get moved down to level I!

Thanks Jody....I guess I really didn't say it right...The Dragon was a Level II already...he has been for quite a while. He has been in Level I before....just for a short time because of bed space. I think they do pretty much what they want to!!

Yea, for the most part.. I think they do!
They just throw our guys around... different levels and all... just to make room. You'd think that would tell them something about the population of the prisons!
