My little brother that is 19 years old was sentenced today for 7 years. I am OK now, but the reality that my 10 yr old daughter will be 15-17 years old is starting to sink in and I am saddened. I am excited that I stumbled on this website and I will pray for others during this time. I look forward to talking to many of you and I am sure that a lot of you can give some good advice.
Welcome to PTO Siblings Forum sadsistah! I am glad you found us . I am sorry to hear about your brother but it really helps coming here for support - just knowing there are others going through what you are and that you are not alone. Please just ask (or PM me) if you need any information on getting around the site.

Hello. I am sorry you are sad and glad that you found us. I am always hanging around if you need to talk or have questions as I am pretty well versed at this stuff. Your bro is lucky to have you. I have a little bro who will be sentenced sometime in the near future. I hope he gets something close to 7. Thats liveable. Some of the sentences are horrible. Do you know if any of the new cases like Blakey or Booker and Fanfan helped your bro out. Do you know where he will be housed at? See you around.

Hi
I just wanted to say hi and that I'm sorry and I understand EXACTLY how you feel. My younger brother is in jail...he was sentenced in July for a non violent crime. He wasnt given 7 years...but he has been in and out of jails since he was 18. :( My kids are very close to him..each time he gets released we welcome him into our home and help him find a job and get back on his feet. It seems just as soon as we get used to having him around..he gets in trouble and is gone again. *sigh* This has all been very hard on us..especially the kids. They just dont understand. Now my brother feels terrible since he is missing so much of their growing up years...its a no win situation for all involved.
Maybe your daughter can write to your brother regularly and send photos and such...at least then he can see her growing in the letters and photos. I know thats not the same..but the best you can do given the situation.
I'll keep you in my prayers...your brother also.
Be strong..and keep the faith always!
