Ok Wisconsinites, I need your help and I need it fast.
What do you know about the boot camp option? Are they really able to be released after the 6 months. Exactly what is involved, how hard is it for the inmate and their loved ones. Do they get visits or phone privileges.
And if you know anyone that has made it though what are the after effects.
I just found out my man is eligible and would like to know the facts.

Wisconsin's Boot Camps are located in St. Croix and Black River Falls. The Boot Camps are about 6 months long, but can vary from one person to another. It is true that once someone successfully completes the boot camp, they are released. What this means is that they must have an acceptable parole/probation plan approved before they are released. It also means that the time remaining on their sentence until their original release date is served on paper or as extended supervision.
I don't know about visits, but I do know that their schedule does not allow for more than about 15 minutes free time at night. They're up somewhere around 5 or 6 a.m. and go back to their living quarters at 9:30 and have 15 minutes to write letters until lights out. I think this is how it goes.
