I was out raged at the differance of prisons. My sweetie's last hell hole gave them nothing. They did not supply them soap for the bathrooms, the food was terrible( ie cottage cheese balls and buffalo meat which never was fully cooked), always out of paper work they needed such as kites, order forms, grievances just to name a few things. He transfers to another facilty and they serve them all beef hotdogs that are cooked all the way through, supply them with soap and as much of their paper work as they needed. The first facilty claimed they had to limit things do to the budget crunch. Does that crunch affect only one facilty? QWho's pockets are getting padded on saving money by depriving the prisoners there of the everyday things they need? I hear the business office head and the wardens get a pretty hefty bonus at the end of the year by saving money. I think that's bullshit. My tax dollars go in part to the MDOC and my sweetie should be able to have a bar of soap to wash his hands after using the bathroom and have a decent meal one that's cooked all the wasy through anyway. Does no one over see this kind of stuff. It sounds rather petty but they don't have much to begin with in there and certain facilties make sure they get nothing else, grrrrrr. Sorry venting but that really tics me off.:pissed:

Yeah some of the stuff James has told me over time has really gotten to me cause I cant do anything about it. I wish they still had where you could send a care package, it certainly would help their budgets and we could make sure they got the basics at least. I feel for you as do others here and sometimes all you can do is vent, but you have all of us to listen so your venting in the right place. Hang in there.

Well..My husband is in Coldwater, and that's the only facility he's been at so far, and I'm lucky...the c/o's are really nice and he has none of the complaints you listed above...but I have heard some horror stories about some of the prisons here, so I count my blessings he's where he is.

I'm glad to hear that your sweetie was transferred to a much better place.

I will never understand why the mdoc does what it does. I'm with witchlin...care packages would be great. And yes...vent all you want. Hang in there..

Ditto with all of the above. I'm really glad Bill was moved to Deerfield. Muskegon absolutely sucked. You would think that across the state for the same level facilities the rules, policies and proceedures would be the same. What a joke.

Thanks everyone for listening. If every facilty follows the same policy and procedure how can there be so much differance in the interpretation. The care packages would be great it is too bad they are not allowed any longer. The MDOC is a joke the only thing funnier is our legal system.
