I need to know everything that can be told about this place.
Packages- can they recieve them ? Can they recieve food ?
Once accepted for visitation how long are the visits usually ?
Is there motels near for out of towners visiting ?
How long does it take to be accepted for visitation ?
How many people can go in at same time to visit ?
What are the days for visitation ?
If out of staters how many days can we go in a row to visit ?

Thanks for all the help

Hi nitecreeper, my son is at Kettle Moraine so I can answer some of your questions. I know visitation hours are 3pm to 8:15 pm Monday thur Friday for 3 hours and weekends and holidays it is 8am to 3:45 pm and those visits are for 2 hours. You can have up to 5 people visit at one time. I think it takes about 3 weeks to be accepted for visitation. Kettle Moraine is pretty much in the middle of no where so as far as motels I'm not sure, there might be one in the city of Plymouth which is about 20 minutes away. I think if you are from out of state you can request an all day visit or something like that. Hope that helps some. If I can be of more help feel free to pm me. Karen

I was at Kettle Moraine for two years. Not that bad, much better enviroment than Dodge. Much more mellow, older crowd then some of the prisons where they send the younger offenders. Most of the gaurds were fair and respectful. Easy to stay out of trouble if you want to and they offer an intense drug and alcohol rehabilitation program there called Nexus. If an offender successfully completes the program their chances of being released earlier on a grant are better. Spent most of my time playing Monopoly, watching Star Trek, and reading.

Hi nitecreeper, my Husband is on Kettle Moraine and I just started going up there and I am from IL. I stayed in a Hotel for 59.00 a night in Plymouth it was not a bad ride at all took only about 20 minutes. If you would like any other info let me know. Also I am glad I read this I am going to check into the whole day visit if you are coming from out of state!

Hi

My son is a fairly new inmate at KMCI. I wish it wasn't such a challenge every time I need a question answered regarding this place. Any way, I am wondering about what I can send to my son in a package as well.

FYI Any visitor who has a joint replacement or any other metal insert, will not clear the security scanner. You need to request a letter from your physician confirming the surgery, and it must be registerred with the DOC before you will be allowd to visit.

Hi Nicole, if you or anyone knows abotu the food packages, for instance maybe your husband knows, let us know here and we will make a thread with information about it.

Catalogs: some info is posted in the "WI DOC What you need to know" forum here above, and as far as I can see the usual catalogs are ok, like JL Marcus, Access, but maybe the institution itself can answer this, if no one else knows.

Visits: check the site of WI DOC for Kettle Moraine Institution, we have placed that same info in 'Prison Profiles" here where you posted, if it does not contain the right info for you then call the institution, I know!! It is always a drag to call, but you may get the answer straight away.

Good luck!!

Each facility is different on what you can bring in. Usually it is something like 'a diaper or 2 or 3,... a bottle(or sippy cup) or 2,... plastic baggie with wipes, a pacifier, a blanket or 2, and sometimes a baby carrier (carseat ones).
To be exact... I'd call the facility directly.. or have your loved one send you a listing of what is allowed for visits.
Good luck!

i finally went to see my fiance in kmci this past thursday and he is also the father of my 2 month old and that was his first time seeing him also and it was rainy and snowy and i hate that u have to walk outside to go from building to building!! the guards at the metal decator were VERY rude and mean the ones in the visiting room were a little nicer i mean with it being my first time there and first time bringing a baby they would have been a little considerate but no. i hope they dont treat our loved ones like that!!!!! anyone interested in carpooling?
