I know we have a few members who are using the Tele-net service to combat the high cost of collect calls and what I'd like is for those members to post. Please just give the rest of us members a little idea of how the service is working, the savings in $$ and anything else you'd like to share about it.

I know we are getting so many new members joining PTO and I'm sure they are going through some frustrating experiences with the high collect call rates. I was hoping by condensing members experiences with Tele-net, we can reach more members with this cost savings alternative.

Thank you and please feel free to copy and paste if you have already posted in another thread. I will be making this thread into a 'sticky' in the near future.

Well, my service is set up and ready to go but I'm not actually using it yet... we're still waiting for the little old lady who is historically slow about it to get my new number on his phone list, sigh.

But I can share many good things about it otherwise. My calls were almost $20 per call for a 15 minute call. Now they will be about $4.25. I'm paying about $18 a month for the remote forwarding and another $3.95 or something a month to Tele-Net, but I don't mind paying that monthly one bit when I was generally paying $60 a night in call charges every time he called and now it will be like $15!!!

I also felt good that they have plans in mind in case you run into any problems with the DOC over using it... the particular company that runs the prison phones where my guy's at, the Tele-Net folks have a good rapport with and have some experience trying to work things out with them. So that's good to know in case anything happens!

Excellent customer service too... Richard (golf_buddy) can answer any and all questions you have and assuage any concerns. And they got me set up fast too! Now if that little old lady will just hurry up and do her job getting my new number on the prison phone list, I can let y'all know how well it's working once I'm actually using it!

Anyway, yup, count me as another happy and satisfied Tele-Net customer!!! :)

When I first started receiving calls from Shawn, I had to set up a "correctional account" through AT&T. At the time, I was using them for my long distance anyway, and they are the only "approved" (by the DOC) carrier for Kansas prisons. There were all these limits, and rules...it drove me nuts. The worst of all was the $5.95 "connection fee" for every call, as well as the downright criminal .89 CENTS for each minute we talked....that meant a half hour of talking was $33.00, and a full hour was $60.00!!!! As you can imagine, it didn't take long before I was battling them over random blocks, and falling behind on my bill. My highest bill for a one month period was almost $500.00...I almost fell through the floor. Shawn and I decided to cool it, but it was soooooooo hard!!!!

When I heard about Tele-Net, I'll admit, I was skeptical. I wondered how these people could circumvent AT&T, whose customer service rep had already told me (in an ominous tone) that they were my ONLY choice if I wanted to talk to my honey. I started seeing posts about Tele-Net here at PTO, and I read all I could. I called for my price quote, and an application. Yes, they do a credit check, and I was sweating that out....since my ex and I split, my credit has gone right to hell. They were so patient on the phone, answering every single question I asked...sometimes more than once *grin*. Imagine my surprise when they accepted me! LOL!

The costs have been what I expected.....and are true to the quote I received. The monthly charges are $16 for the remote forwarding line, and $3.95 for Tele-Net's legwork....$20 total. The per-call charges are a $4 connection fee for each call that is accepted, and .15 cents per minute of talking. That makes a half-hour call $8.50, and a full-hour call $13.00, as opposed to the outrageous amount I was spending for AT&T. There are some taxes added on, but that is the same with any long-distance service.

Tele-Net is saving me big bucks on my calls with Shawn....almost 75%, in fact!

I've had Tele-Net for months now....the service itself is great, the bills are reasonable, and when I have had questions or concerns, the customer service was accessible, polite, and efficient. In the beginning, I just submitted my new Tele-Net number to the prison, and they added it to Shawn's list, no questions asked.....I've never had a single issue with the DOC causing trouble.

Without Tele-Net, I would not be talking to Shawn today....AT&T would have cut me off long ago, at their outrageous prices!

Thanks, Richard and Tele-Net!

Susan in Providence

PS---I am in Rhode Island, and Shawn is in Kansas, so these calls are a lifeline for us!

Hey, anyone getting calls from loved ones in prison. Try TELNET. I just got my bill for 1 month it was 124.00 compared to 3 to 400.00 a month. I was paying 15.45 for 15 min. Now I'm paying about 4.75 for 15 min. From FL to IN

:) I just got my bills for Telnet . My son is in Fl. I have to pay Bell south 85.34, and Powernet Global 53.50 for a total of 138.84. My last bill from Correctional Billing was for 274.00 for lesser time used. Greatest thing since sliced bread.

I just got my first phone bills from PowerNet and Quest.

Each phone call used to cost me about $20 for 15 minutes of time. I think it was about $5.90 for the connection fee plus 89 cents a minute (plus all the taxes of course).

I am very happy to report I now pay $1.91 for a connection fee plus 15 cents a minute to talk. So now our 15 minute phone conversations are about $5.00 a phone call!!

Richard was so helpful and patient with me when I was setting the service up with his company. I appreciate all the time he took with me for me to feel comforatable switching over to this service.

I recently signed up and have just received my second call through the TeleNet system... I have not received a bill yet but I know from the price that TeleNet gave me that my bills will be half for the same time talking.

Richard from TeleNet has been awesome... AND, if you can believe - he called me after the phone was connected to check that it was working AND, AND, AND he Thanked me for signing up! When was the last time a 'phone company' Thanked you...?

I have only had TeleNet for just over a month now... I am now getting calls twice a week (instead of once) and the bill is STILL cheaper than when I was getting one call a week!

I had the choice to get more calls or keep the calling schedule the same and save money - we chose more calls and to my surprise we are still saving money - and a significant amount too!

I'm using the pre-paid Tele-net service. Kenny couldn't do call collect to me before because I live in England. He can now call me when he wants as he rings the local number they gave him and they connect him to my number. I pay $23 a month to have the account and calls are $10 for a 30 minute call with a $2 connection fee each time. Worth it to me just so I can hear his voice. Anyone want anymore details PM me.

I need to add even more great news about Tele-Net. As most of you know, my guy just got transferred to another state due to overcrowding, he just got there Friday morning. Right now as I type it's the middle of Saturday afternoon and ALREADY Evercom, the stupid phone company that provides the system in the new state, has blocked my line (over a lousy little $53 in 24 hours).

Companies like that don't care about inmates or us and have no compassion for things like urgent situations like last-minute transfers and such. TELE-NET DOES CARE.

I am happy to report that Richard just happened to be available on the phone, right after I got off the phone screaming at Evercom... and by Monday I should have my new Tele-Net service established where my guy is now. Keeping the old one I've had for the last six months, too, for now, just in case he gets transferred back. Really have no problem paying the $18-odd a month for service in both cities, and my calls from the new prison will be half what Evercom charges and about the same cost I have been paying from the old prison.

Couldn't ask for better service if I tried. And my blood pressure has gone back down immensely this afternoon thanks to Richard. :)

Seriously, anybody who's been considering it, call Richard at Tele-Net and see what he can do for you, he's been a miracle worker and a godsend and a blessing for me and my guy. They have a wonderful prepaid plan now that requires no credit check, as well as still having the regular old plan.

Richard has done wonderful things for PTO members and been a huge blessing for PTO. Call him weekdays at 1-888-925-1400 and see what he can do for you!

I have had Telnet for two years. It is great and Richard is great. Just give him a call. I don't need it anymore after next week, cause my my son is on his way to work release. He will be able to call with a calling card on a pay phone. If you have high phone bills call Telnet at 1-888-925-1400. THEY ARE THE BEST!!!!

My son is in Work Release. He uses a pay phone to call home. Instead of him feeding the payphone, Richard got me a toll free 800 number that he can use to call at 4 cents a min. No monthly charge. I just pay for the talking min.

I just called- I am so excited.... I have been paying about $400 to $500 a month for phone bills. I tried using the tel-net website estimator but it didn't work. Then I called the general service number and they were busy, supposed to call me back. i missed that call so i came back on here and decided to call Richard directly at the number Jo36 posted. Trust me- don't bother with any of the other stuff, just call him first. He is extremely nice and I feel like he's completely honest. The jail my friend is in is not one they usually deal with so he wasn't exactly sure what the start up costs and monthly service fess and stuff would be but he was very upfront about that. Anyway, i am sure hoping for some savings- otherwise I will have to stop taking calls and since i think it is important to keep the relationship open with my kids dad I would hate to see that happen. WOO HOO i should be getting my number up and running in just a few days!

I cant say Im saving anything, because if it werent for Tele Net I wouldnt even be able to receive these calls. See, I live in Australia and I heard about them from this website so now I have been getting calls from my husband for over a month. Yes it is expensive (around $11 a call) but is that worth it over not talking to my husband at all? YES! I can now talk to him twice a week. I came to USA to visit and had the calls forwarded to my cell phone while I am here, the price went down to around $5. Tele-Net is a lifesaver. I amoften so depressed and crying most of the time, but I get a phone call and everything changes I am actually able to smile or even laugh. I hope more people become aware of this service.

I could NOT even get collect calls on my phone due to having a phone bill that was ran up by an exboyfriend so the phone company put a collect call block on my phone and would NOT take it off. Because of Telenet I am now able to get calls from my honey. Each call is approximately $6.00 so even if I was able to get the calls on my blocked line I am still saving money.

I just got the service last week and we have been talking 2-3 times a day - need to slow down on that a little bit though. I love telenet - I worked with John and he was wonderful. Highly recommend it to ANYONE!!!!!!

I just got my first phone bill. Remote call forwarding and a 15 minute call from my honey cost $1.20 plus tax. I have two phone services, so total with 30 calls from my honey my monthly dual phone bills will cost me about $122 per month! Of course, I also have a cell phone which I forward to when I am out and about, I never miss his calls!!!!! The total each call with taxes will be about $4.06 per 15 min call (this includes both phone bills at him calling 30 times per month!) I am just so excited, I could scream!!! We have been sitting on pins and needles hoping my first phone bill was not going to over $200 and it was much lower (it included 2 months service and $56 installation charge)

I called Richard today to see about the TELE-NET service and he quoted me 34.00 setup and 26.00 a month,4.95 connection fee and .16 a minute.........WOW.............Im paying the 4.95 but .56-.60 cents a minute.....LOL
I had to do some internet searching and was confused because my love had given me a service to connect up with and turn out it is T-Netix and I didn't want it because he has a friend with this and has only been able to connect once through it...thanks for the info my paper work goes in tommorrow..............YEEEP....HOPE IT WORKS......
Richard was "VERY NICE" and answered my questions and they difference in setup fees ect...I asked him questions concerning if they have had troubles and not getting it through some prisons and he was VERY upfront and had a WONDERFUL COMPASIONATE TONE of voice..........Which we all need right now....He asked how I heard about it and I told him PTO and he said GREAT.....What do we got to lose............

Hi all,

I've been using Tele-Net for the past couple of months from overseas (dreary England to be exact). I've never used such services so, haven't anything to compare it to. I do love it though! I know that many people are speculative about using such services from overseas. I've been using it for about a month or so now and its great!!!! If there is anyone out there a little uncertain about using it from overseas...I assure you NOT to be..it works fine!!!!

Thank you Richard for the GREAT work and keep it up!! :)

I have been using telenet since sept and I love it. I can talk to Pat for 20 min and it only costs 6.50. Recently within the last 2 weeks he hasn't been able to call. I called Richard and he put in a trouble ticket, but it hasn't seemed to work. I am concerned because we can't use the service it is saying number is no longer in service. When anyone else calls me collect (not from a prison) it goes through. I am not sure if it is with Coyote Ridge or what. All in all telenet has been the best.
Thanks Richard

I gotta tell you all, I signed up with PCO-Telenet November 21st 2005 and was hoping for the same great service most everyone else here has recieved. Unfortunately that has not been my experience at all. I am usually not one to voice a complaint but since all of us are in the same boat with the "system" and trying to save money and be in touch with our incarcerated loved ones, I feel I have to share my story. I set up a "virtual number" as it is called with PCO on 11/21/05. I was excited because I had been spending 800.00 a month accepting collect calls from my loved one in the county jail in Colorado Springs=$19.40 per 15 min call to me in Iowa. I was thrilled even with the activation fee of 40.00 and then then the 26.00 service chrg a mo, it would only be 8.40 a call with PCO, I still would be saving alot of $$$. At any rate, since starting with PCO I have had nothing but problems and haven't saved a dime! My new number has only worked one week out of the month I have had it..Either my "inmate" gets a fast busy when he calls my number or a " your call is blocked" message..PCO never returns my calls and only "every so often" will Richard respond with a short sentence to my email that "they are aware of the problem and are working on it" thats it. They give me no time frame for the repair or whether they will give me 20 plus wrong number calls which added up to 16 cents per call. Be wary of using this service. I wouldn't if I wasn't so desperate to save money..like anything while having a loved one incarcerated, it hasn't gone smoothly and continues to be a problem. BE CAREFUL..you will rarely speak with a "live" person and are often sent to a voice mail box.

GOOD LUCK!

Sorry you're having problems with PCO. I've had them for a long time and love the service. Because they have a large volume of phone calls, try leaving your message on the one that is for Sales. That way, someone may call you back sooner. If you press the # to speak with tech support, they may be on the line with someone else and will not be able to speak with you right then.

Was it Richard or someone else who responded to your email? Or was it an automated message? I've had problems maybe twice with PCO and each time they were very nice and helpful - and I did speak with John once and with Richard once. One other time when I called, some young female answered the phone - and answered my question.

overall, i really like PCO...my biggest issue is that the weekend payments do not post until Monday, so if i run out of money on Friday night i can't talk to my hubby until Monday morning (when the payment is cleared by one of the employees). that's the biggest problem that i have. my phone calls drop also...and sometimes it's annoying because say out of 20 calls...maybe 5 will drop for no reason. but other than that, someone usually always returns my phone calls and helps me out. my hubby gets agitated that the calls drop...that doesn't bother me as much as the fact that sometimes my money is only available to me on Friday, and i'm too late to post money to my account, and my hubby and i are stuck with no calls for 2 days!!! that really bugs me. but maybe someone will start working on weekends to at least post payments. i would be forever grateful...as today is friday and i have the money to post to the account, but no ride to pay it until tomorrow!!! and that SUCKS!

Do any of you have trouble when your loved one calls back right after your first call and that recording plays twice, then says that the call can not be accepted? Then, I get charged $3.48 every time! This happens almost everytime he calls me:angry: Richard says it's not his fault. I called the phone company and they said they'd give me credit, but so far-- nothing.

Does this happen to any of you and if it does, does anyone know what I can do? They owe me $70.00 now! I'm not a rich woman! I need my money!

Thanks!

I'm overseas too and I've been getting calls from other people (usually companies trying to sell me something). I've contacted PCO and they put a block on my phonenumber during certain hours (most hours of the day actually, but especially at night because of the time difference). I know when my guy's supposed to call me and when there's an emergency, we have a special code, so that I know it's him and I pick up the phone. As for the other calls, just hang up as quickly as possible and you shouldn't be charged the connection fee for that call. Hope this helps...

I've had them for about six months and I understand all of the issues with MCI, but I haven't been able to speak with my husband over the phone since 12/31/05. THE WERE GREAT I CALLED YESTERDAY EVENING AND THEY RETURNED MY CALL THIS MORNING AND HAD FIXED THE ISSUE AND CREDITED MY FUNDS BACK TO MY ACCOUNT ...THEY AREN'T SO BAD AFTER ALL!!! I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THEM THIS MORNING.

However, The person that was getting the calls i guess blocked the calls so now the number is not working anymore....i will have to call them again tomorrow ...but this should be an easy problem to fix i hope...I will have faith.

I started going through PCO in Dec. 05, the service is great when your not being blocked by MCI! Last time I was blocked for about a week in January. This time it has been almost 2 weeks. I understand that MCI wants to monopolize the prison lines and I also understand that its illegal for them to do that. But, if that is the case you would think that there would be some # we can call to complain and resolve this problem. I read somewhere that MCI is being investigated for this, you would also think that they would give us (the people being blocked) a number to call. What pisses me off is I don't have a land line. I am currently running my household on cell phones and MCI doesnt even offer a service for inmates to call cell phones so I dont know where they get off blocking the service who can provide what I need!

Try PCO, www.prisoncallsonline.com (http://www.prisoncallsonline.com) They give you a number that's forwarded to your phone. Unfortunately sometimes blocks by MCI do happen, but it's worth looking into

Is TeleNet the same company as PCO? I have asked for a rate quote from PCO, but now am reading about TeleNet. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day all!!

do any one from ct use pco

I don't know of anyone off the top of my head, but if you speak to someone at PCO, they can give you the statistics of how many people use them in CT and at the specific facility your loved one is in.

Good luck!

Help!!!!!!!

I paid for a PCo number last friday. when my fiance calls, it doesnt work. it says problem with billing, or something.....i tried calling the number and it doesnt even ring. the number does not work, and it certainly doesnt forward to my phone.

I have called at least 2 times per day and left messages. I have sent emails. I have heard NOTHING!!! I feel like im being ignored. i just want someone to tell me "dont worry, we are working on the problem and we'll have it fixed by...." something. but no response has really been upsetting me. my fiance now just calls my house, which defeats the whole prupose of me paying for activation, and paying the monthly fee....i havent even been getting calls!! and i put 200$ on the account, money i could use to pay the phone bill from the company that IS charging me for calls. I dont know what to do. Any suggestions? i have sent richard emails on here and at his direct email address. how lse do i get someones attention????

Is it an MCI message stating there is a billing issue? If so, you will probably have to get a new number. Ive never heard of them blocking calls before you even got any though. Very strange. Best thing i can tell you is keep calling PCO. When I was having trouble, I called continuously for hours til someone finally picked up. Try pressing one when PCO answers, they seem to answer that one more.

There can be blocks on the # b4 U even get to use it. When I very FIRST got my virtual # issued to me...I had the same thing happen to me. I didn't know anything til my d00d got at me saying he couldn't get thru and should he not of I wouldn't of known. Come to find out the ppl that had that # b4 me...they are recycled #'s by the way....had a block on it and Richard didn't know about it so he had to get it removed.

Trust me I know all u guys frustration as Ive had 2 virtual #'s and I went around and around and while getting charged a monthly fee for something I wasn't able to use for a month or so....best believe I had that changed real quick. So eventually everything gets fixed.....gotta be patient and I know its a royal pain in the arss!

Ive got Richards cell phone # and that is what I used for him when I wasn't getting them to call me back. Hit me up if ya want it. Mean time I hope u guys all get it worked out.....if ya need me then holla back.

P.S. By the way these #'s being given out and charged for are REAL LIVE #'s and most of them are businesses. I know that for a fact cause I use PCO and a prepaid mci account and they had diff addy and info on my # and that is how I found out! It would be kinda nice to KNOW some info on the # they are charging u an arm and a leg for!

Thanks guys. i am still trying to get it fixed. the number says there is a high toll block when my honey calls it. right now its okay because he can call my moms, but that means i have to come sit here and wait for him to call. i like when he can call me directly so i can have a semi-life. i wasnt getting a response to my emails or phone calls at all. so i finally messaged richard directly on pto and at his personal email address for pco. he got to work and had the number fixed, but wasnt able to figure out the block...:blah:

the prison my babes at uses evercom, its one of the few in ca that dont go through mci so hopefully he can fix it with them.

my problem is, the number works so i have been getting weird calls for random people and telemarketers. i dont answer it, but when it goes to voicemail i get charged a 6$ connection fee!!! i dont even talk to these people! i tried answering and hanging up real quick, but that doesnt work either. so no calls from my hubby and im somehow spending money on this number that doesnt even work.:angry:

i hope youre right bella and this will be fixed soon. if its not done by early next week (its been 3 weeks now) i will hit you up for that cell number. THEN he'll fix it real quick to get me to shut up!

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!!! i tell my man dont call unless you got the whole half hour because its crazy to spend 6 bucks for juswt a few minute conversation. richard just emailed me that he has the block cleared so hopefully it will work now. once i actually get the phone calls ill see if theres a way to work on the connection fee. pretty crazy. hes only calling me from 2 hours away too, its not like im on a crazy out of state long distance number.....

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to tell you that I signed up for PCO and I'm very happy with their service. It's great being able to talk to our son more often. It's saving so much money.

When I have any questions I just e mail Richard and he always e mails me back the same day.

Does anyone have problems with telemarketers constantly calling their PCO number?

knotforever
06-06-2007, 04:04 AM
Yes, I did, which is why I stopped having pco as the telemarketing calls were eating away at my phone balance! I would call pco all the time too to try and get credit for it.

I put my virtual number on the do not call list. i was getting 4 calls a day from telemarketers! its slowed down some. except now my phones not working....again!! on the PCo website it says my line is clear, my fiance doesnt hear a message from evercom sayign lines blocked, but for some reason its not going to my cell. i sent emails to pco about it, still not working and i havent heard anything back. thank god i have a phone at home where my man can call still because i have had problems at least once a month. im gonna try richard on here and see if i get anywhere with a PM....
