i need someone to help me and my husband as we are at the end of our rope. 18 months it has been since we've seen each other. 18 months ago he and i asked for help for tdc to move him because his life was in danger. it took 9 weeks to move him, he was put in solitare the entire time and treated worse than a dog and they pulled my visitation for "security" reasons. they say we have to apply with DRC for approval again and every 6 months since then, which is the soonest you can apply, they send me a form letter saying they have reviewed our case and i will not be granted visitation. i call them and i get no answer, just that they have decided against visitation at this time and to try again in 6 months. we write our letters to DRC just like they asked and have gotten no where. this prison system in texas tries to break you and my husband is struggling to stay sane and i mean that honestly and from the depths of my heart. IF ANYONE OUT THERE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT DRC IN TEXAS AND HOW TO GET HELP PLEASE EMAIL ME. i am desperate and i don't say that lightly. email address rmvd per PTO policy please pm member please help if you can. thank you. lynne

I don't know where to tell you to go, but I work for the State and whenever anyone can't get the help or answers they need from a particular agency, they write their state reps. It might be worth a shot. You can find out who your reps are at http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/fyi/fyi.htm
I would write them and cc the DRC. Prison officials seem to have this attitude that punishing the families is a good thing. They seem to get a kick out of embarrasing, humiliating, angering, etc. the loved ones on the outside. I don't get it. Their lives would be so much easier if the morale inside is good. To help with morale, the inmates need contact with their loved ones. It also aids in their rehab and just might cut down on the violence on the inside. But who am I except a loved one on the outside....good luck!!!

Have you contacted the TDCJ ombudsman's office?
Contact and other information is here on the tdcj website:

I am not at home right now but I have the address to the lady who handles that. I will pm you with it. You will have to have a good reason for wanting the transfer like a ill family member. I have to get a letter from a doctor stating the reason they can't travel far. I also have to write a letter to go along with it. It takes 4 to 8 weeks to find out if they approved the move. Then they could only be up to 200 miles from home. If you want call the Inmate Information line between 8 am til 5 pm and tell the operator what you want to know about and she will let you talk to the lady that handles that. Here is the number 1-936-295-6371. I will pm you with the address when I get home.

I am having the same problem. I wrote my state house representative and the ombudsman office. I wish you luck and hope that you post your results on this thread so I can keep up with your results.

I am praying for you and your husband, also for rosannad and her loved one to have resolution soon. Have faith and ask God to intervene... He always has the last word. God bless you all
