I just found out my brother that I haven't heard from in five years is in Bibb CF.
When I called to find out about contacting him, they transfered me to his case worker who told me that he had to contact me before I could have any communication with him. I know he has been there since Nov. 2004 and has not contacted me yet. Does anyone have suggestions on how to open communications with him? Any help would be appreciated.

Can you not write him? His AIS number is listed on the net.

Yeah, someone that has a loved one in that CF will come along shortly and prolly offer to contact their loved one and get the word to your brother, maybe you can even write a letter and have it mailed to the person that will help you and then them forward it to their loved one and then to your bro. I wish you all the best with this, I am sorry I cant help you any further my mate is no longer incarcerated. also, i never put joes bed number on his mail, some prisons are strict about and apparently that one is.

You might try going to inmate search and get his AIS#,then turn around and e-mail Brian Corbett and request a copy of his time sheet. That will give you all the info you need about bed#,dorm# and everything.Try it and see cause I've never heard of having to be on a contact sheet just to write and Lee said he's never heard of that.Just get all the info and write to him and if it's true about the contact list they'll send your letter back.

I posted you some info under the other thread you put on here.Maybe it will work!!!The only reason I know of that you have to be on a contact list for is to send money, phone calls, and visits.

You could also go ahead and try to send a letter with his AIS # and no bed/dorm #. The facilities are often lenient with the first few letters/mail and not so strict about that... I've been having Con-Tact News issues sent into Bibb without bed/dorm #s for months now and they haven't been returned.

Thanks everybody, I'll try to write him and see what happens. This is my first experience
with the penal system. When I talked to his case worker she was short and rude on the phone. Didn't know what to do next. She told me without his consent I couldn't contact him. Maybe some of your advice will help. Thanks again.

Oh that's bull. And you're very welcome. Give it a try... my guy and I had lost contact for 10 years and five years ago I sent him a letter with just his AIS number and no dorm or bed # and he got it just fine, your brother probably will too. And like I said I have someone at Bibb getting the CTN newspaper without a dorm or bed # on it so it'll probably be OK. The worst that can happen is they mail it back to you and hopefully one of our folks that have someone at Bibb can get the dorm/bed #s for you. Good luck hon...

Hi and welcome to PTO. I'm very sorry about your brother!

I'm with Lysbeth, just try and see. I have a pen pal of sorts that's in Alabama - he'd been released last year and is back in prison. I wrote him and didn't have a bed number or anything and the letter got to him. I wasn't on any type of list.

Best wishes to you!

Hi...
Welcome to PTO :)

My brother is in Elmore in Alabama..i have sent him mail without having the dorm/bed number. He did get it..but he said they dont like doing that ..it causes extra work for the staff. Send a letter...i imagine he will get it..then he can mail you with his dorm info and such. It may take a little longer...be patient. It just may work.

Hi Sweetie!

My husband recently got transfered to Bibb County Correctional, and I understand that they are a relatively new facility and as such, are pretty strict with their "rules & regulations". My husband had to place me on a mail, phone, and visitng contact list which they enter into their computers. They are bad about not allowing in any mail that does not meet with their regulations. I'm not sure when you posted this thread, and you may have already made contact with your lost brother by now. I just came across your thread and thought I would offer to help you if I can. Write me back and let me know your present status with this. And if you haven't already gotten in touch with him, I'll see if there might be some way in which I can get my husband to ask around and get your brother's bed and dorm number for you...and perhaps get word to him that you wish to make contact with him. That way he can go ahead and add your name to his mail-contact list so there won't be a problem with your mail getting thru to him. Let me know if I can assist you. God Bless you and grant the desire of your heart. :-)
