View Full Version : Questions about rdap,halfway..etc
julie192 02-11-2005, 09:06 AM I wanted to know the process once u get into rdap. you do the nine months, graduate, wait 4 a bed in halfway, Then home. When does the p.o visit ur house when in halfway or b4 halfway? Can ur family attend graduation? Can someone explain step by step what to expect after you get in program
Holly6005 02-11-2005, 09:38 AM I don't know about the RDAP part of your question but as far as the halfway house goes they U.S.P.O. went to check out my house while I was still in prison. I think usually they check out your house BEFORE you go to halfway house because you can sometimes serve some of your halfway house time on home incarceration therefore they O.K. it ahead of time (I think)????
sandra8376 02-11-2005, 11:44 AM My husband hits the halfway house in 38 days & the p.o.'s already been to our house & approved him to come there as soon as he's eligible for home confinement. It was a pretty straight-forward visit & only took a couple of minutes. Basically, he just wanted to know if my husband could come home or not. Of course I said yes!
fedtime 02-14-2005, 11:10 AM Speaking of home confinement, how long do you have to be in halfway house before you can go on home confinement / house arrest? For example, if you do RDAP and get 6 months halfway house?
mach1 02-14-2005, 02:25 PM Cjjack ~ Jump in here ... I am under the impression that if one participates in RDAP, then they MUST do the entire six months in a halfway house after they graduate RDAP ... Can you confirm or deny? Thanks in advance!! :)
cjjack 02-14-2005, 02:47 PM You must do 6 months in the halfway house, BUT, when you reach your 10% date you are eligible for home confinement. You must report to the halfway house, though, instead of to the probation department. When the 6 months is up, you go on supervised release.
keynote 02-14-2005, 02:57 PM can you go to college while you are in the halfway house? I was under the impression that you will do approximately 4 months in the halfway house and 2 months home confinement.
cjjack 02-14-2005, 03:05 PM No, it all depends on your 10% date, and if you are doing a relatively short sentence, your 10% date will be pretty far down the road. You can go to college, as long as you also work 40 hours per week on top of that.
bp&ft 02-14-2005, 04:10 PM Is that 10% of the original sentence or the time that will actually be served?
cjjack 02-14-2005, 04:12 PM Time that is actually served.
julie192 02-14-2005, 08:24 PM O.k. now i'm cofused my husband after the program he would have served roughly 40 mos. when would he be able to recivee home confinement. His original sentence was for 60 mos. He will be doing 6 mos of halfway cause of rdap.
julie192 02-17-2005, 08:15 AM What exactly is the aftercare about? Is it weekly aa meetings and weekly urine test or what?
sandra8376 02-17-2005, 07:42 PM Julie,
I've been wondering about the aftercare also. My husband comes home soon, and he was told the aftercare starts after the halfway house. I don't know if it's just aa, na, drug tests, or what. He seems to think that there is individual & group counseling that goes with it. Does anyone know?
cjjack 02-17-2005, 07:47 PM Sandra, I am an RDAP graduate and went through the aftercare. It actually starts from the time you get to halfway house. I know that I thought that it was after that, but it is not. It involved, in my case, once a week meetings. You are also required to provide a urine sample once a week. When I went on supervised release, it changed a bit. I was on the Code-a-Phone system, you call every day, if it is your "color," you must present yourself to the probation office for a drug test. It will be once a week for 6 months. My probation officer made me go to a class once a month for 6 months as aftercare. Each probation offiver may require something different, but it will definitely be drug testing and counseling, at least for 6 months.
