I need to get some information and find out what needs to be done and things like that.. Erin justvicki 02-10-2005, 09:46 PM Inmates get married all the time in WV prisons, but I've never been able to find any information about it on the WVDOC website. My best advise would be to contact the facility where the inmate is housed. Good luck, and if you will, please share with us what you find out. mrs MO 02-11-2005, 05:27 PM Let me first say good luck. My fiance is at occc. When we started the prosess he was at the western reginal jail. We was told there that we first must write a letter requesting to get married. a letter form the prosacuting att stating you are not a co defendent which in our case we wasnt getting any where with the prosacuter.+for us after he was moved occc said letter from his defence attorey was good enough. if eather has been married before. a copy of your divorice papers couseling by chaplin at occc i had to fill out lot of B-S stuff.background check. we have did all they asked we are waiting on the chaplin. there u do your couseling the day of the wedding He even put a request in DEC for us to be able to get married on valentines day:( not going to happen. so again GOOD LUCK amusick 03-12-2005, 06:51 PM I am in the process of getting married to my fiance who is at southwestern regional. We both had to write a letter to the jail requesting to be married to each other. Second, you need a letter by either his attorney or the prosacuting attorney saying that you are not a wittness against him on any charges. Third, you must meet with the chaplin and have him give his approval to marry you. Finally, the jail has to write a letter to your county court house requesting them to send the paperwork for him to fill out, they send it back to the court house and then you must go fill out your part of the paperwork and pay for the license. They will then mail the license back to the jail. When they recieve the paper the jail sets the date for the wedding. I hope this will help you. Good luck. A justvicki 03-12-2005, 06:54 PM amusick, thanks for the information about getting married in the regional jails. do you have any about getting married when the inmate is actually in a WVDOC facility? thanks! mrs MO 03-12-2005, 07:50 PM Me and my fiance have been trying to get married since Oct. He just had to put a request in to the chaplin and I had to get the marriage license from the Fayette Co. courthouse and then we just had to wait for the chaplin to approve it. Then we picked a date and got married during visitaion. We didnt have to write any letters or do any counseling. It only took us about 3 months for the whole thing. They even let me bring a camera in. nikitakity 03-29-2005, 09:17 PM me and my husband were married in february 2003 at the pruntytown correctional center. it was simple for the most part. he first had to put in a request through the chaplin. then we both had to wait for our turn to use the counceling videos, which come with a booklet of fill in the blank paragraphs. we both had to watch the videos and do the books. then i went to the courthouse and filled out my part of the license. then i took it to pcc and they let him fill out his part. we also had pur own pastor come in and do the ceremony. we were allowed 5 guests, so long they were on the visitation list. i brought in a camera. it didnt take long. the time was taken with the videos and finding a date that suited me, our pastor, and the pcc chaplain. other than that, theres nothing to it. other jails and correctional facilities have different rules, i think. good luck. I am sure they can give you the chaplain's name and tell you how to contact him. Also, your fiancee can get a marriage packet from his unit manager or counselor that has all the info you need regarding getting married at that particular facility.
