View Full Version : Directions to prisons in Texas.. Need Texas members help
mlk2001 02-09-2005, 08:18 AM Hi to all!
We are currently working a project for the prisons profiles. I would like to ask all of you a little favor to help out a little. I would like to compile a list of the prisons and directions to each on of them. I know it will almost be nearly impossible to get all the prisons down since Texas has so many out there, but I would like to get as many as possible. Basically what I/we are looking for is a one stop place to members to go to and be able to get directions and information about the prison their loved one is in.
I would really like to stay away from map quest directions since sometimes they are a little long in length of direction.
Here is what I am looking for:
Basically I want to post different directions from the major citys in Texas
example... Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio.
So please help us out by posting What major city you are coming from and to what prisons you have driven to over the years.
Please just straight forward driving directions to each of these prisons.
Another good thing to include is if there is any hotels/motels in the area that are good to stay at or possibly what the name of the Hospitality house is in that area.
Please if you have any questions about this post it hear or pm me. You can either pm me with the directions or post them right her on the thread. What ever you are comfertable with.
Thanks in Advance for your help!

Stockton.....exit there and make a left at the next street.....you will go down this dark country road for about 50miles. There is no lights or civilization.......when you get to hwy 10 look to your left and there is the prison....keep going down and you will come to a light and a big statue of a bird....and the hotel I stay at is left at the light....then it is on the right hand side....Econo Lodge..it is like $30 a night and fairly descent. No hospitality houses...if anyone goes out there pm me and I can answer any question.
jen_n_beau 02-09-2005, 10:48 AM Wynne Unit in Huntsville from Houston(about 1 hour drive). Take 45 North and take exit #118. Turn right at the light. Go about 1 mile to first red light and take a left. The prison is directly on your left and looks like an old church. There is a Motel 6 and a La Quinta at exit #116 and both are fine.
Wynne Unit in Huntsville from Fort Worth(about 3 hour drive). Take 45 South and take exit #118. Turn left at the light. Go about 1 mile to first red light and take a left. The prison is on the left.
Retired-18 02-09-2005, 10:53 AM Fort Worth to Jester, Carol Vance and Central Units
Take 20E to 45S to 610S to 59S Exit US Alt 90 A West. Central is approx 6 miles on right, Vance 8 Miles on right Jester is 10 miles, right on Harlem approx .5 mi on right.
vim1946 02-09-2005, 10:56 AM This is from DFW Area to Eastham Unit (Lovelady) and Estelle and all the units in Huntsville:
The Hospitality House in Huntsville is at 912 10th Street and the phone number is (936) 291-6196. This is the closest one to Eastham Unit and I believe also the Estelle Unit besides all the units in Huntsville itself.
Take I-35 S to I-20E then I-45 S for approximately 159 miles.
Take exit #116 towards (TX-30) - go 0.2 mi
Bear left on I-45 S - go 0.1 mi
Turn left on US-190 - go 1.4 mi
Turn left on AVENUE J - go 0.1 mi
Turn right on 10TH ST - go 0.1 mi – this brings you to the Huntsville Hospitality House.
When going to Eastham, turn right out of the parking lot and go to the second stop sign (University). Turn right – you will go quite a ways to where the road will split and either go straight or bear to the right – you will bear to the right. You will go until you see a flashing light and a sign that points to Estelle unit – turn left there – go to the dead end and turn left again. You will go a few miles until you see the highway gate. If there is room, pull in and park across from the gatehouse (back in) and turn off your vehicle. When it is time you will have to open your hood and trunk and show your ID. If there is not room to park you will pull in to line behind the last vehicle parked on the highway.
Yvette 02-09-2005, 04:54 PM Take 59 N towards Victoria,
then take Spur 91 toward Refugio/Corpus Christi
Once you see Highway 77-S you take that highway,
After you drove about 100 miles start looking for 141/King AVE/Kenedy AVEand take that exit which will be to the right.
Now you will drive for at least 16 more miles, then you come to a stop sign and you'll see a Freeway that sais US-281. You will them make a left and go US-281 S.
This Highway will take you to El Cibolo RD after driving 79 miles on US 281 S( You will know you are at the exit becuase you'll "The Prison Complex" sign.)
Well you will exit and make a right on to El Cibolo RD and the Segovia Unit will be 4 miles down on the right hand side .
If you are looking for a decent Hotel and some where that is close to the Unit. The Best Western is further down US 281 right before you get to Closner Blvd on the right hand side. The manager name is Lupita. You can ask her for the Special rate for the Segovia Unit which is $60
BrandNewGirl 02-09-2005, 07:56 PM Austin to Larry Gist State Jail in Beaumont...(also to LeBlanc and Stiles Units)
Take Hwy 183, which turns into 71 out past the airport. Stay on Hwy 71 until you get to Columbus, where 71 dead ends into I-10. Take I-10 straight through Houston, on into Beaumont. When you get into Beaumont, take the Washington Street exit (also Hwy 69/96) and stay on Hwy 69/96 until you see the sign to FM 3514. There is a huge sign that says "State Correctional Facilities". At the stop sign, veer to the right. Gist Unit is the 2nd unit on the right. LeBlanc Unit is the 1st one, and Stiles Unit is just past Gist, on the left side of the road.
I'll post Austin to Huntsville and Austin to Diboll (Duncan and Diboll Units) later.

From Houston take I-10 west into San Antonio and follow signs to stay on 90, exit 1608W, at the stop sign take left go over freeway and it is 1/4 mile down on right, right past hill.
FaceFixer 02-16-2005, 04:09 AM Directions from Grand Prairie (between Dallas-Fort Worth) to:
Allred Unit....take I-20 west to I-35 north. Go north to Hwy. 287. Stay on 287, drive through Wichita Falls. Just outside of town is exit for FM 369 N. Go right about half a mile. Allred on right. Plenty of hotels in Wichita Falls.
Boyd Unit in Tegue, TX......take I-20 east to I-45 south towards Houston. Stay on I-45 for about an hour and a half, take the 197 Exit. Turn right and go about 3 miles. Unit is on left. Don't know about any motels there. Would probably need to stay in Corsicana which is about 30 miles north.
txchic 02-16-2005, 09:55 AM From San Antonio to Edinburg. Take 281 South ~ it is a straight shot and you won't have to exit until you get to Edinburg. Exit El Cibolo Road and go under overpass to the left. The facility is about 1-1/2 miles down the road. I stay at either Super 8 which is about 10 minutes from the facility or La Copa Inn about 12 miles away. I have never paid more than $60 for one night stay. If anyone needs any information about places to go or eat you can pm me. I say Edinburg is my second home for now. I go about every 2 weeks ~ I leave on Saturday and visit on Sunday.
witchiejeni 03-09-2005, 10:30 AM Mapquest nearly messed me up...I've since found an easier way:
Take 35 to Waco and exit on 84...turn east on 84.
Take 84 to 79 and go on 79 North (even though it's really northeast)
Take 79 to FM 645
Eventually, you will find the turn for Beto Unit...it's quite a ways to the unit and right now there is construction, so be careful.
Parking for Beto once you enter is the 3rd entrance on the left.
There is a hospitality house in Tennessee Colony, but I can't remember the name.
Bronc05 03-09-2005, 02:19 PM It's called "My Father's House".. Run by Joyce Green Ministries. Hope that helps.
ahilton77007 03-09-2005, 02:45 PM 45 North forever to the Buffalo exit#178, exit Buffalo to the right, continue on 79 towards Palestine for another 20-30 miles or so. Take a left on FM 645 (There is a large sign with the unit names on it, and a red light). After going another 13 miles or so, you will begin seeing large signs telling you where to turn (left) for Powledge, Beto and Gurney units. For Coffield and Michaels, continue on and take a left on FM 321 (it is a 4-way stop with a white church on one corner, and an old gas station on the left corner). Take the first left, which is FM 2054. The East Texas Prison Hospitality House will be on your right, the units are about a mile or two further down.

Tears_N_Texas 04-18-2005, 10:14 PM The Trinity River bridge section of 287 south that heads to Tennesse Colony for prisons: Michael, Coffield, Powledge, Beto and Gurney from the Dallas Area will be closed from May 2 to July 11. Does anyone have good directions to and back from I-45 in the Dallas area. I'm terrible at finding my way in the country. I've been told to go through Fairfield. I'm the type that needs exact street names and land marks. I would appreciate any help.
BrandNewGirl 04-19-2005, 05:51 AM Tears, I'm sending you a PM.

Willsgirl 04-20-2005, 05:59 PM Sorry :D
Willsgirl 04-20-2005, 06:13 PM I-45 SOUTH toward HOUSTON - go 78.2 mi
Take exit #197 toward TEAGUE/FAIRFIELD - go 0.3 mi
Turn Left on to TEAGUE ST[US-84] this road will take you thru downtown fairfield, the courthouse is on your left side that way you will know you are going the right way. It takes at least 45min to an hour before you get to where US-84 turns into US-79, so bring plenty of music or a riding buddy :)
US-84 will turn into US-79 go about 3 or so miles then
Take a left on FM 645 (There is a large sign with the unit names on it on your right, and a red light).
The East Texas Prison Hospitality House will be on your right, the units are about a mile or two further down.

lsustaita 05-04-2005, 08:10 PM Amarillo to Jacksboro/John R. Lindsey Unit Jacksboro
287 South to Wichita Falls
281 S to Jacksboro
4.5 hours
Vickey 05-09-2005, 11:48 AM Take 288 south all the way out.
Staying on 288 south for about 40 min. or so.
Now here's the tricky part, you will pass the Angleton exit 521, continue on pass the next Angleton / West Columbia exit.
As you pass the Angleton/West Columbia exit you will be approaching an overpass, make sure you are in the far right lane, because soon as you are on top of the overpass you will see a little sign that says
"Wayne Scott Unit" with an arrow.
Exit there and make a right at the stop sign. Continue on this little country road that will twist and turn 2 times before you get to the railroad tracks. Cross the tracks. And don't worry this road only leads to the unit. After stopping at the highway gate you will be able to see the unit on your left. (trusty camp is on the right)
Hope this helps i like to be detailed:)
Vickey 05-09-2005, 12:04 PM From Houston take 288 south for about 25-30 min.
Exit the Rosharon / Alvin Exit.
Make a right at the stop sign/caution light.
If you pass a post office on your left you are going the right way. Continue on this road, which will twist and turn at least 2 times. You will then come upon a traffic light. (there will be a gas station on your left.)
To go to the Ramsey Units make a left at the light. Continue on for approx. 5-10 min You will make a right at the flashing yellow caution light. Continue on, you will come upon the highway gate in less than 2 min. They will direct you to 1 of the 3 units your visiting.
To get to the Darrington Unit, make a right at the traffic light, continue on for approx. 5 min. You will see the unit on your left, make a left turn at the flashing yellow caution light. Once past the highway gate the unit is on your left and the trusty camp is on your right.
Happy Visiting:)
Vickey 05-09-2005, 12:28 PM If you are coming from Amarillo or any where in the panhandle, You will take I-40east to 287 Dallas exit.(which will be the far right 2 lanes) Take 288 south to Decatur (you will pass thru alot of little towns ultimately going thru Wichita Falls) . Once your out of Decatur you will continue on 287 which will merge with another freeway on your left. You need to begin to look for the I-20 eastDFW exit (EAST). This is where it might get tricky! Because your not going to Dallas, but your not going to Fort Worht either. this highway looks like it sits between the 2 cities.
You will make a loop right which will be a complete cirlce once your out of it. Continue on for the I-20 east DFW exit. Once your on I-20 east, you will then travel on this highway for a while until you begin to see the 45 south Houston exit signs. There will be a couple of these signs until it actually says exit 45 south now/here or an arrow.
Take 45 south all the way into Houston.
Welcome, Good Luck, and watch the traffic (it's pretty wild here sometimes):D
OH, by the way you will need a lot of CD's The entire trip will take at least 9 or 9 1/2 hrs your first time. I've got it down to 8 1/2!:D
interbiz04 06-04-2005, 10:20 AM From Houston to the Polunsky Unit in Livingston:
Take I-45 North and exit onto US 190 East (also called 11th Street) in Huntsville. Take a right (go East) until you get to FM 3126 (about 37 miles). Take a right on FM 3126 at the caution light. When you reach the stop sign you'll come to FM 2457. Take a right on FM 2457, and almost immediatly you'll need to take a left again back onto FM 3126. You Take the left back onto FM 3126 at an Exxon Station. Then Take FM 3126 straight to FM 350. Make a left on FM 350 and you can see the Polunsky Unit.
I'm from Huntsville, so I don't know places to stay in Livingston. I do know that a lady named Christa runs a guest house in Onalaska, called Show Life Texas (Onalaska is located about 15 minutes from the Polunsky Unit). Her husband was on death row before being executed earlier this year, so she can really sympathize with family members who have loved ones in prison.
I am also familiar with the Hospitality House here in Huntsville. Anyone who lives 150 miles or more away from Huntsville and has a person who is currently in one of the units in/near Huntsville or at Polunsky, is allowed to stay there for one night for free. They have a food closet, and family members are allowed to take food home with them if they're having problems feeding their family. The Hospitality House in Huntsville is the only house open seven days a week (because death row visitation is Mon-Sat). It is opperated by Fred and Sherry Walters, who are just awesome people.
They run three ministries: Death Row, Release and Exeuction -- which means that outside of just coming to visit, you can also stay there when you have someone being released from prison the next day. Since all prison releases go through the Huntsville "Walls" Unit, they allow for this. They're only a few blocks from the Walls Unit.
To get to the Hospitality House in Huntsville from Houston, take I-45 North, exit onto US190 East. Go straight until you see AVE J. Take a left on Ave. J, and go one block. Make a right on on 10th Street, and you will see the Hospitality House on your left.

kensgirlval 07-04-2005, 11:34 AM Pretty simple...
20 west all the way to exit number 215 and it will say TDCJ- Wallace Unit.
You will come to a 4 way stop sign and make a left and you can't miss the unit on the right.
Lil shy shy 07-04-2005, 01:07 PM Would that be the same for the Dick Ware Unit in Colorado City too?
kensgirlval 07-04-2005, 03:30 PM Directions are the same for both units, they are right next to each other. Once you turn into the entrance, you will see a sign, one points towards the Dick Ware Unit and the other proceeds to the Wallace Unit.

Been There 2 10-21-2005, 07:33 AM I just recieved a letter from my son he just got transferred to "BYRD UNIT" in Huntsville, he was a GARZA EAST, I will be driving from Corpus Christi, any & all help will be greatly appreciated........lu
The Byrd Unit used to be the Reception Unit for everybody.
There are several ways to get there from Houston/Corpus. Take I-10 to Houston, turn North onto I-45 (signs say Dallas), drive north to Huntsville, Exit 116 and stay on access road to Highway 30. MacDonald's on right, Super WakMart over on left side. Turn right and go to 2nd stoplight (get in left turn lane) and turn on old Highway 75 (at the Walgreens). Go north to second stoplight. Turn right onto Loop (FM 2821). Go past the Wynne Unit on your left, about 1.5 miles and turn right at first stoplight FM 247. On the right are the fields of Byrd Unit, drive 1/2 mile and turn right at main entrance.
From Dallas, come South on I-45 to exit 116 and turn left on Highway 30. Same directions from there. (Yeah, I know there are other ways, but this allows the ladies to use a rest room after a long trip!)
Public transportation is extremely jimited in Huntsville. But the Byrd Unit is within a bout 3 miles of the Hospitality House, so it's not too expensive by cab.
jtsmom 10-28-2005, 10:31 PM I live in Mineral Wells so I can give directions to 3 different units. Hope this helps.
From DFW metroplex to CCA in Mineral Wells. Take I20 west to Weatherford Take 180 west to Mineral Wells As you are coming into Mineral Wells at the first red light go right into the Fort Walters industrial park go down that road till it Y's and you stay to the right and follow that road straight to CCA
From DFW to John R Lindsey State Jail in Jacksboro. Take 199 north all the way to Jacksboro don't get confused because 199 is going to turn into 281 a few miles before you get to Jacksboro. Go all the way through town and you will see a small sign just catty cornered from the sonic on the right and I think its says state jail or something. Anyway its post oak road and you will turn right onto it. Just follow it about 2 miles or so and you will see the county jail on the right and right next to it is the state jail.
From DFW to Middleton and Robertson Units. Take I20 west to mile marker 288 Exit right go toward Albany About 2 miles you will turn left on 1082 then go about 5 miles and you will see the the signs for the units turn right and its about a mile or so down that road If you have any questions please pm me and I will do my best to help you out. Several motels in Mineral Wells but I don't know about hospitality houses but I will try and find out and post it. Jacksboro has a couple of motels but its really a small town not much there. Good Luck Vicki (jtsmom)

CopingDaily 03-13-2006, 06:33 AM There are 2 ways to Garza from S.A. One is to take Hwy 181 (Floresville) which is a smaller highway that runs through some small towns, where you have to slow down. Many people prefer to go this way, but I will give you directions using 37 South, (to Corpus Christi) which is the faster way for me coming from the northside of San Antonio.
Take 37 South to Hwy 59 (Beeville exit). Make a left under the highway. Go about 16 miles to FM 351. There is a Shamrock Station with a Dairy Queen inside at this intersection. Turn right and go through your first stop sign. At the second stop sign turn Right. (there will be some storage units there with orange doors). This is Hwy 202. Go straight past 2 4-way stops (you are going under 181 at this point). Continue on straight about 5 miles and you will see the visitors center and parking area for Garza West. You can park there an wait for the gates to open and be directed to either West or East at this point by the guards. West is right there in plane sight on your right. Can't miss it. (unfortunately). It took us about 2 hrs and 20 minutes from the far northside of San Antonio and that was with 2 pit stops. Lots faster than I thought it would.

teresa moran 04-24-2006, 09:51 AM I recomend staying away from map quest I know they took me the long long way it's saposidly shorter to get to Gatesville Prison taking 45 hwy to Huntsville then drive over to gatesville but how do you get there from Huntsville? Carpooling would be a good idea don't they have any other way to get there so far there is no transportation straight thru to Gatesville prison from Houston where I am that's totally ancient isn't it? I miss my daughter.
Emily2882 04-24-2006, 11:27 AM GIST Unit from Houston
Take 1960 East till you get to Dayton. Turn right on 321 go under the rail road tracks. Take a left on Hwy 90. Take that all the way to Beaumont. Then you are going to go East on I-10 until you get to Hwy 96/69. Take the exit going south. Then about 10 miles or so down the road take ext 3514. Turn right. Leblanc is first. GIST is Second, and Stiles is 3rd

*approx 30 Miles Or So Down The Road (which Is After The Bridge Over The Water) You Will See A Shell Gas Station To Your Left, You Will Take A Right Onto The Road Right Across From That Gas Station (not Sure What The Road Is Called)
*then You're Only About 1 1/2 Miles Away And The Entrance To The Hughes Unit Is To Your Left!!
Hope This Helps Everyone...i'm Not Sure How To Get There From Other Major Cities, But I'm Sure If You Get Onto I-35 It Will Take You To The Gatesville/cameron Exit Which Is 36w

THATS EASY!!
Morena3456 06-02-2006, 10:29 AM Does anyone know directions from Rio Grande Valley to Amarillo tX (NEal unit)?
Lost_in_Texas 09-14-2006, 01:23 PM From Houston, take 59 South, going downtown, stay in the Victoria lane, continue 59 through Victoria, take the Goliad Exit, look for the 59 South exit, continue to a sharp right turn to continue on 59 South.
Take the George West exit from 59 South, make a right on Nueces and pass the Valero refinery on your left. Take left at the first traffic light and continue on that road.
The entrance to Three Rivers visiting facility is at the second entrance.
Visiting hours are Friday 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and weekends and holidays 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
From Houston this is a four hour drive.
BTW, you may be "randomly" tested for contact with any illegal substances. I had a positive reading for perfume on my wrist.
Lost_in_Texas 09-14-2006, 01:28 PM Sorry, these are the directions to Three Rivers FCI.
jojacks 09-14-2006, 02:49 PM Where in the Rio Grand Valley do you live?

bringmikehome 06-23-2007, 11:07 PM We drive from Amarillo to the Tulia Transfer facility every Saturday. We head South on Interstate 27, the highway bypasses Canyon and Happy then you are in the area ofTulia. Take the Rip Griffin Exit and at the stop sign and going in front of Rips, turn right. It is visible from here and it is about 1/2 Mile on the right. As far as prison units go....this is a very respectful unit.
trishie35 06-26-2007, 03:07 PM I am looking for directions to the Newton Unit from Houston. I am planning a visit in July. mapquest not helpful.
To Hughes Unit in Gatesville from Ft. Worth. Go South on IH-35 to Waco. Exit onto U.S. Hwy 84/Waco Drive and turn right at the light. Follow Hwy 84/Waco Dr. all the way through Waco. You'll go thru many traffic lights. Once you are outside of Waco and still heading west, you'll come to the small town of McGregor. There's one light there. Keep going west straight through McGregor. Be sure to watch your speed as you are leaving Waco and all the way through McGregor. Local police love to give speeding tickets! Gatesville is about 20 miles west of McGregor. As you are coming into Gatesville, you'll pass a softball field complex on your right. Ahead of you is an overpass. Slow down and turn right just before you reach the overpass. There's a Cefco gas station and convenience immediately on your right. This right turn will put you merging onto State Hwy 36. Go approximately 3 miles and when you see a Shell station in the distance on your left, be ready to slow down because your turn off is coming up to the right. There's a sign telling you "Alfred D. Hughes Unit" on the right shortly before you have to turn. After you make the right turn, you'll be on Farm Market Road 929. Follow the road about three more miles and as you top the hill, the Hughes Unit is on your left.
If you are visiting the Woodman State Jail, follow all the directions except instead of turning right onto FM 929, turn left onto FM 929. Go about a mile and a half and it's on your left.
If you are visiting the Mountain View Unit, don't turn left or right, but stay on Hwy 36 until you get to a flashing yellow light. At this light, turn to the right and the first driveway on your right is the way to Mt. View.
If you are visiting the Lane Murray Unit, it's just before you get to the flashing yellow light and is on your left.
If you are visiting the Gatesville or Hilltop Units, turn left at the flashing light. Hilltop will be on your left and Gatesville will be on right. Hackberry, Sycamore, etc. are all called satellite units and have their visitation either at Gatesville or Hilltop visitation areas.
There is a newly opened hospitality house in Gatesville that is just down the road from the Woodman State Jail, but I don't know the rules or the exact name of it.
Hope this helps!
JLH
Rockne wife 10-08-2007, 11:50 AM I won't need them for a while but I like to be prepared, I'll be coming from Austin on Highway 71 going thru Bastrop.

cchickse 11-09-2007, 06:12 PM Houston to Gib Lewis Unit in Woodville, TX
Take I-10 East to Beaumont. Will merge into Eastex Frwy going North. Take Lufkin exit, continue North on Hwy. 69 (96 & 287). Will go through Lumberton, Kountze, Village Mills, Warren, Hillister, then Woodville. In Woodville, turn right on Hwy. 190 (West Bluff). This is at the main light in town. The courthouse will be on the corner on your left. About 2 miles out there will be the sign for Texas Department of Corrections Gib Lewis Unit. The road is on your left right after the sign. There is one decent motel in Woodville, the Woodville Inn. It is through the main light about a block on the left.

hbajn50 03-20-2008, 09:25 PM I am traveling to Pampa from Austin for the first time Sat. a.m. I was planning on taking hwy 183 n to hwy 6 to hwy 380 to hwy 83 to hwy 287 then to 70 and coming into Pampa. Once I get to pampa, I am clueless besides the very blah directions on the TDCJ site. Does anyone know if this is the best route and I am having a hard time finding a cheap hotel in pampa. I am guessing it will take about 8 hours or so. If anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it!!!
BEACHBUM3227 03-29-2008, 03:40 PM OK FOLKS....I'm new to this. I am confused about the prisons in Palestine, Texas. I was told that he was in the "tenessee" colony in Palestine. After reading some posts here, I am confused. Is Tenessee colony ONE prison? or does that cover SEVERAL DIFFERENT prisons?
Someone please clarify
BEACHBUM3227 03-29-2008, 03:42 PM I'm looking for someone specific. Is it ok if I list his name here?
jojacks 03-29-2008, 04:24 PM I could be wrong, but I think Tennessee Colony, Texas has 2 prison units. It is best to not post inmates names, but if you want to send a pm to someone to ask about an inmate, you can do this.
RobinsMan 03-31-2008, 10:25 AM Beto, Gurney and Coffield are all at Tennessee Colony. You can use the online Offender Information Search (http://168.51.178.33/webapp/TDCJ/index2.htm) to see where he is housed. Just enter his first and last names. Search results open in a diffferent window so if a new window doesn't open when you poke the "submit" button you have pop up blocking turned on and you'll need to turn it off - or hold the ctrl key down when submitting.

redroses 05-05-2008, 07:58 AM Anyone can give me directions from Dallas to Woodville . I'm driving down to Gib Lewis Unit this saturday .
RobinsMan 05-05-2008, 01:21 PM Most straightforward way is to head south on I-45 until you get to Huntsville (about 170 miles) and then head east on US-190 to Woodville (about 77 miles). It's the same exit as Hwy 30. Gib Lewis Unit is located on FM 3497 about a mile and a half east of Woodville. So, just continue on past Woodville on US-190 about a mile and a half and turn left onto FM 3497. Gib Lewis unit is about three quarters of a mile dead ahead.
You could exit I-45 at Centerville taking Texas Hwy 7 to Crockett, there take the 304 loop south around town to US-287, and then head south to Woodville. It saveS almost 15 miles, according to google maps if you don't mind riding more backroads.
