View Full Version : anyone have someone in mccalaster udevilish 02-21-2003, 11:53 PM hey if you do let me know i might be able to help with any problem you have no matter what it is Enjay 03-04-2003, 12:59 AM udevilish, I have a very good friend at Mcalester! He is on DR and is looking at being executed soon!! I am trying to find a way to go visit him but it is so expensive! I think I found a good flight to Tulsa but my friend said the prison is out in the middle of nowhere. Can you tell me any thing about visiting rules, hours, etc. and about the town and where the prison is? Any info would be helpful. Would being the inmates spiritual advisor help as far as visiting goes? I feel kinda paniced because I want to visit before he is killed and he's thinking it might be April/May! Thank you for your offer and help! Enjay Enjay 03-04-2003, 01:00 AM Oh, I forgot! Feel free to PM me! Enjay praise4himnok 04-03-2003, 03:28 PM We have an x-jockey that is in the minimum security unit in McCalester. I believe it is called Jackie Brannon. His name is Ricky Holmes. lady_sandy 04-06-2003, 10:02 PM My husband is in Mcalester and I have had a few problems getting then to tell me whats going on. I havent been able to see him in over three months and they cant tell me when i will be able to see him. It a big messed up deal the reason that he was transfered there. If you want you can PM me. MommaHen 05-15-2003, 12:03 AM Hey Crystal!!!! Ladies My hunny is in the Talawanda Heights Minimum Unit at McAlester. I can help with some of the questions you may have reguarding it. But be forwarned the case manager there knows my name and voice well but I have gotten fairly freindly with him and he is really good about answering the questions I have. I know the basic visiting days and stuff and how it works at least in the Min unit. EnJay the prison is not out in the middle of nowhere and McAlester is a fairly large town. There is also a place there in town just across the street from the prison called the Hospita;ity house where family members of inmates that want to come visit can stay really cheap. you just have to follow a few rules but they arent bad. It costs adults $5 and kids $1 a night to stay there they supply some food clean showers and bedding and are church ran. I have gound it is a great help when I bring the kids with me. They are young and a full 8 hour visit gets to them and at McAlester you can split it up into two days as long as you don't go over the hours alotted for their level. Any one wanting more info feel free to PM me and I will help anyway I can. I am currently in the process of getting a new AA group started for the guys at THMU since they do not have any sponsors and I have the information on who to contact in Oklahoma for corrections AA information. ( all the other units at OSP have AA classes or so I am told) why is it that the ones closest to coming home get the least in help? And to ease your mind while there are some real butt head guards there I have ran into alot more that try to treat our loved ones decent. Just my personal experience so far but the Operators that answer the phones are another thing call before 2 pm to get a hold of the decent operators that are willing to help you figure out who you need to be talking to. micheldon 05-31-2004, 06:28 PM My fianee is in Oklahoma State Prison. He is on F unit. sunnytogo2004 06-01-2004, 10:27 AM hey if you do let me know i might be able to help with any problem you have no matter what it is  hi undevelish, sunshinetogo here, it was nice seeing your post. i have my brother in jbcc, minimum security. he is a wonderful, kind hearted man who got caught up in the drug scene and got caught. actually, it probably saved his life by getting caught. but the reason i am writing, is because i would like to perhaps get him a few pen pals. since he is changing his lifestyle, when he gets out of there, he will also be changing his friends and type of women he will be socializing with. i was just wondering if you might be able to help me get a couple of pen pals started for him. he has never had a problem getting women, he is a very handsom man, and intellegent(except when he was on drugs), who has a heart of gold, we just would like to get him a good start with a couple of good women who are not into drugs, etc. if you can help me with this, i would be eternally grateful. i love my brother with all of my heart and i want to do anything i can to help him have a new life. i will be glad to give you any info about him you need to help get things started. please let me know if you can help. thanks. a very loving sister sunshinetogo2004 Marion 06-22-2004, 12:01 PM Hi Undevelish, I have a dear friend on deathrow, can you tell me if they are allowed overseas phonecalls, and if so how often and how long are they allowed to call? All information is very welcome! Thanks, Starchild 06-22-2004, 03:51 PM Hi Marion I just saw your post here. I live in England and got to speak to my friend in OSP last year a few times but only because he had a decent case manager at the time. Now we cannot even get on the visiting list, let alone call him. They are not allowed overseas calls, unless the case manager allows it as a favor...pm me if you want to talk more. My mum is from Holland by the way! AmMarie 07-14-2004, 07:34 AM my fiance is unit I BlueEyes01 07-26-2004, 09:03 PM My pal is at Mcalester, well he is more than a pal to me:) Im hoping to visit there soon. Does anyone know if we can send a self addressed envelope there?? or do we have to send money orders for stamps??? Starchild 07-27-2004, 03:49 AM Hi Dana My good friend is in McAlester too. I have been trying for over a year to even get on his visiting list! All I have been able to send is a check which then goes into his prison account and he can use it to buy stamps or whatever. They can only buy a certain amount of stamps depending on their level - or that is the case in OSP anyway. MommaHen 07-27-2004, 01:28 PM All items into MAc has to be either sent via a mail order company or in the form of money so they can buy them on canteen. BlueEyes01 07-27-2004, 05:19 PM Thank you for the helpful info, a few months back I had sent my pal some books, and of the four he couldnt get two, they were hardback..had I known..ugh I was so mad:( he had no money to send them back, so the prison destroyed the books. why couldnt they just donate them to a library??? Starchild 07-28-2004, 02:34 AM I had the same thing with a hardback book recently. I sent them via amazon and luckily the prison sent them back to amazon and I got the money back, but like you say, they could have at least sent them to a library..... mizcece 11-04-2007, 05:16 PM I live in Ardmore & my boyfriend just got transferred there, I know how to get to McAlester, but know nothing about the town...any help would be great. Thanks Darling78 12-22-2007, 11:19 AM Whats going on here girls:D? nobody here for so long, did anybody knows some news from McAlester? Alladestal 02-25-2008, 01:30 AM He was in county for almost 2 months and just got moved from Lex Assessment to Jackie Brannon CC. I was very glad that he got Min security. I live in TN so it's about a 9 1/2 hour drive to visit. I am waiting for the app to fill out to get on the visitor list. I'm also waiting for the phone number to be approved. His case worker allowed him to call me and let me know what was happening and why he had not called. They said it takes a week or so to get the phone approved. Any day now. :D I miss him so much already. MelissaTx 04-11-2008, 09:06 PM Hi all. My husbands cousin is in McCalaster. Im not sure which one though :) hes never said. I do know he was Max.
